Low-income people are given priority for free hospital fees.

(QNgTV)- People who are social policy beneficiaries, disadvantaged or have low incomes will be given priority for exemption from hospital fees within the scope of health insurance benefits, according to the Government's action program.

The Government has just issued an action program to implement Resolution 72 of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of people's health.

Accordingly, from 2026, the Government will coordinate many activities such as periodic health check-ups, free screening, health check-ups for students, occupational health check-ups, health check-ups for workers and health insurance health check-ups. This is to ensure that all people have access to free health check-ups. At the same time, each person will have an electronic health book to manage information throughout their life cycle.

The project to gradually exempt hospital fees for people will be implemented, with priority given to social policy groups, the disadvantaged, low-income people and some other priority groups within the scope of health insurance benefits. Along with increasing health budget spending, the Government will develop a roadmap to expand the scope of health insurance benefits, paying for many disease prevention services, screening, early diagnosis of diseases, as well as prenatal and newborn screening for congenital diseases and defects.

The State also encourages the development of commercial health insurance, pilots diverse health insurance packages according to people's needs, and strengthens the link between health insurance and commercial health insurance.
