Origin of the pile of rock and construction waste spilling into the Han River in Da Nang

On the afternoon of April 5, leaders of the People's Committee of Son Tra district and the People's Committee of Ngu Hanh Son district ( Da Nang ) inspected the scene reflecting the appearance of a pile of rocks, soil, and construction waste located close to the bank of the Han River, along Chuong Duong street at the foot of Tran Thi Ly bridge, in My An ward (Ngu Hanh Son district).

According to the reporter, after receiving instructions to handle soil, rocks, and debris in the above area, the authorities are mobilizing excavators and human resources to level and improve the current situation.

Speaking at the scene, a representative of the Son Tra District People's Committee said that around the end of March, the construction unit had people clean up the trash and reeds in the above area, and the original soil, rocks, and debris that had existed for a long time were revealed, leading many people to believe that new construction waste had been dumped.

A member of the Urban Code Inspection Team of Ngu Hanh Son district also confirmed that the current state of the pile of rocks and debris has been there for a long time but was previously covered with grass.

Regarding the origin of the soil, rocks, and debris that appeared here, a local resident said that people may have secretly dumped them in this area in the past and accumulated them over many years.

Previously, there was a reflection that along the Han River embankment, along Chuong Duong Street at the foot of Tran Thi Ly Bridge, in My An Ward (Ngu Hanh Son District), there was a lot of rock and construction debris spilling into the Han River. This rock and soil field is about 100m long.

Upon receiving the report, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, inspected and directed Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts to coordinate in handling the area where the incident occurred.

It is known that this area is where Da Nang city will pilot a night tourism street with a ground scale and Nguyen Van Troi pedestrian bridge. The pilot period is from the first quarter of 2024 to the end of 2028.
