Every year, Son La College enrolls and trains nearly 3,000 students, with 36 majors at college, intermediate and primary levels. The training fields are diverse, including: preschool education; electrical and electronic engineering technology; information technology; electricity and water; tourism - services; veterinary husbandry; cultivation; art... The school also cooperates with nearly 20 academies and universities nationwide to train and improve the qualifications of staff, lecturers and students, including Lao international students.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Long, Principal of the school, said: In recent years, the school has received many sources of support for renovating facilities, teaching equipment and training of teaching staff, including funding from the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period (Program 1719). The school has proactively coordinated with units to organize the implementation of projects and sub-projects of the program to meet requirements, ensure the right subjects and regulations.
From 2022 to present, Son La College has been invested with over 62 billion VND from the National Target Program 1719, supporting the training of 2nd degree for 7 teachers and lecturers; organizing over 30 training courses for over 4,300 teachers and officials. At the same time, 100% of the training program has been adjusted; 3 new college programs and 19 regular vocational training programs have been built; the online training system and school management system have been completed and effectively operated. To date, 100% of the curriculum has been digitized; 168 additional electronic lectures have been built and put into use.
Regarding facilities, the school has repaired and maintained 4 construction items: Experimental classroom building, floor area 2,797 m², scale 18 classrooms; classroom building B3, floor area 2,111 m², scale 16 classrooms; classroom building B4, with 5 classrooms; information library center with floor area 1,895 m², 15 rooms; purchased machinery and equipment for training in electrical - electronic engineering, art; invested in equipment for online meeting rooms, studio rooms....
Lecturer Vu Thi Bich, Head of the Department of Electrical and Environmental Engineering Technology, said: In 2023, the school will be supported with more than 200 equipment items and teaching models for electrical and electronic engineering, helping lecturers to conveniently teach and guide students in practice, helping to innovate and improve the quality of vocational training.
As a final year student of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology College, Lo Tuan Loc shared: In the past, we mostly programmed on computers, with very few devices and models to practice with. Now, we can directly study on electrical engineering models and devices, practice more and gain practical knowledge.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Long, Principal of the school, added: The school is proposing that the National Target Program 1719 continue to support a funding source of about 50 billion VND to carry out training and fostering of teachers, managers, and vocational trainers; develop programs, textbooks, and teaching materials; apply information technology, digital transformation, and invest in purchasing teaching equipment.
Thanks to the support from the 1719 Program, Son La College has been provided with the necessary conditions to improve the quality of vocational training for ethnic minority children. This is also an important driving force for the school to continue to innovate, meeting the requirements of human resource development for Son La province and localities in the region.
