On the morning of May 7, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the cold air mass is continuing to move south.

Around the night of May 7 and May 8, this cold air mass will affect the Northeast and North Central regions, then affect some places in the Northwest. Northeast winds inland will gradually strengthen to level 2-3; coastal areas will reach level 3-4.

On the day and night of May 8, the weather in the Northeast and Thanh Hoa will turn cool. During this cold air mass, the lowest temperature in the Northeast will generally be 21-24 degrees Celsius, and in mountainous areas, it will be below 21 degrees Celsius.

From the night of May 7, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the Northeast wind will increase to level 5; in the northern area of the Gulf of Tonkin, the Northeast wind will increase to level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8, waves 1.5-2 m high, rough seas.

The warning center warns that from this evening and tonight until tomorrow, May 8, the North and North Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some heavy rain.

From early morning on May 8 and 9, the area from Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue will have scattered showers and thunderstorms; locally there will be moderate to heavy rain.

In addition, from May 8, in the Central Highlands and the South, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally with moderate to heavy rain (thunderstorms will occur mainly in the afternoon and evening). Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Thus, from May 8, widespread heat wave is likely to end.

The Central and Southern regions have very high UV index thresholds.

On May 7, heat and severe heat spread from the Northwest region, Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen , the Northern Delta, and the South.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that on May 7, many cities in the Central and Southern regions had very high UV index thresholds. The time when the maximum UV index appears usually occurs from 10am to 1pm.

Doctors recommend that people take proactive measures to protect their bodies from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays, such as wearing sunglasses that block ultraviolet rays, hats, and sun-protective clothing, limiting sun exposure during peak hours, using broad-spectrum sunscreen, and reapplying sunscreen every 2 hours.
