Flappy Bird was a global phenomenon in 2014, but was later removed from app stores by its creator due to concerns about its addictiveness. After years of absence, a group calling itself the 'Flappy Bird Foundation' recently announced plans to re-release the game. However, when information related to cryptocurrency and Web 3 was discovered on the project's hidden websites, many people expressed doubts about the project's true motives.
According to the investigation, Flappy Bird Foundation has acquired the copyright of the Flappy Bird brand from Gametech Holdings, the company that registered this trademark after Mr. Nguyen Ha Dong did not renew it. Notably, the head of Flappy Bird Foundation is Michael Roberts, who is also the head of 1208 Productions, a company operating in the field of cryptocurrency and NFT.
Nguyen Ha Dong’s statement has sparked much debate about the future of Flappy Bird . Will this re-release retain the simplicity and spirit of the original game, or will it be turned into a tool for commercial and cryptocurrency purposes?
The gaming community is waiting for further information about this project, and at the same time expressed support for Mr. Nguyen Ha Dong's recent move.
