Nguyen Xuan Huu – The keeper of the fire of Then singing and Tinh lute

Nguyen Xuan Huu, a Tay ethnic boy, was born and raised in Quang Minh commune, Bac Quang district. Since childhood, the sound of Tinh lute and Then melodies have been ingrained in his subconscious, urging him to nurture a strong love for this traditional art.

With his love of art and perseverance, Nguyen Xuan Huu has become the keeper of the traditional culture of the Tay people.

Born into a family with a cultural tradition, Nguyen Xuan Huu was exposed to Then singing and Tinh lute early on. However, his path to art was not easy. After graduating from Pedagogy, he decided to change direction to pursue his passion. He went to Tuyen Quang province to seek a teacher to study. After many years of perseverance, he has now mastered the Then and Tinh melodies of his people and is teaching them to the next generation.

Artisan Nguyen Xuan Huu travels throughout the districts of Ha Giang , Tuyen Quang, and Cao Bang to teach and perform Then singing and Tinh lute.

Not only teaching directly, Nguyen Xuan Huu also takes advantage of social networks such as YouTube, Facebook and TikTok to promote and teach Then singing and Tinh lute. His videos always attract tens of thousands of views and shares, contributing to spreading traditional arts to more people.

For more than a decade, Nguyen Xuan Huu has traveled to districts of Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, and Cao Bang to teach and perform. Thereby bringing the joy and freshness of Then singing and Tinh playing to everyone. Through this, he not only helps preserve traditional culture but also promotes local tourism development. With his love for art and perseverance, Nguyen Xuan Huu has become a keeper of the traditional culture of the Tay people./.
