Nguyen Xuan Son can walk by himself without needing to hold on.

The recovery process of naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son has made new progress, as he can walk normally without crutches or support.

Striker Nguyen Xuan Son recently posted on social media a 20-second video of him practicing walking indoors. Xuan Son was able to put down his crutches and walk slowly, but with quite a bit of confidence. While walking, Son kept his balance and smiled brightly.

Xuan Son has been practicing walking without crutches since February. However, he still had to hold on to the railing. After more than a month, Son's recovery process has clearly progressed. However, he still cannot walk 100% normally when going out. Every time he attends events (such as the Vietnam Golden Ball gala) or goes to watch football, Son still appears with crutches by his side.

Xuan Son was injured in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final in Thailand on January 5, and underwent surgery on January 6 upon returning home.

Up to now, he has undergone more than 3 months of rehabilitation training. Consultations between orthopedic doctors and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) concluded that Xuan Son's condition is very positive. He is expected to return to top competition this year.

Nguyen Xuan Son was born in 1997 in Brazil and successfully naturalized as a Vietnamese citizen at the end of 2024. He debuted for the Vietnamese team at the ASEAN Cup that same year and contributed greatly to the team's championship journey.

With a long-term break from competition, Xuan Son will not be able to contribute to Nam Dinh Club and the Vietnam national team for most of 2025. However, his appearance has helped the Vietnam national team regain its position in Southeast Asia, while creating a positive effect on the love and attention of fans.
