Coach Polking does not blame Nguyen Filip

Head coach Alexandre Polking did not criticize goalkeeper Nguyen Filip after two big mistakes in the recent Asian Cup.

"I talked and gave advice to Nguyen Filip. There is no doubt that he is a high-class goalkeeper, but there were times when he lost focus, which led to poor results. We will improve together," coach Alexandre Polking of the Hanoi Police Club shared at a press conference on the morning of September 23.

On September 18, Nguyen Filip made two mistakes that caused Hanoi Police Club to lose two goals and draw 2-2 with Beijing Guoan (China) in the AFC Champions League Two 2025 - 2026. Coach Polking did not reveal whether he would continue to give Filip a chance in the next matches or not.

"I always believe in my students' abilities," said Mr. Polking.

On September 24, Hanoi Police Club will play Cebu (Philippines) at Hang Day Stadium in the second round of Group A of the ASEAN Club Championship (Southeast Asia Cup). Having lost 1-2 to BG Pathum United in the first round, Coach Polking and his team want to aim for victory when they return to their home field.

"Because we lost the first match, we need 3 points to move forward. Cebu also has many good national and foreign players. But we will have a plan," said coach Polking.

On the Cebu side, the Philippines representative coach called Hanoi Police the strongest club in Vietnam.

He said: "Cebu players are very eager and ready to face Cong An Ha Noi, the strongest team in Vietnam at the moment. This is a good opportunity for us to test the players' abilities.

I am very impressed with foreign player number 72 (Alan Grafite) of Hanoi Police Club. This is a very dangerous striker. Besides, the ability of the other players in the team is very even."

The match between Hanoi Police Club and Cebu in the Southeast Asia Cup will take place at 7:30 p.m. on September 24 at Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi. Coach Polking's team is currently ranked 5th out of 6 teams in Group A with 0 points.
