Southeast Asian Gong Festival 2025 held in Lam Dong

On November 5, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee held a meeting with relevant departments and units to discuss plans to organize the Southeast Asian gong festival in 2025.

According to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province, the 2025 Southeast Asian Gong Festival is held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space being recognized by UNESCO as a masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage of humanity; at the same time, implementing the province's commitment when joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music .

This is also an activity to honor and promote the cultural heritage of gongs in the Central Highlands, and introduce the economic , cultural and tourism achievements of the Central Highlands region.

The festival also creates opportunities for cultural exchange between national and international ethnic groups, promotes the image of Lam Dong to international friends, affirms the position of Lam Dong - a land of convergence, spreading the cultural values of the Central Highlands to the world.

Reporting at the meeting, the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province said that the 2025 Southeast Asian gong festival is expected to have the participation of 15 gong artist groups from the Central Highlands provinces, northern provinces, Southeast Asian countries and UNESCO creative cities.

Activities within the framework of the festival will be held simultaneously in 3 areas: Lam Dong of thousands of flowers, Lam Dong of blue sea and Lam Dong of great forests.

The main activities of the festival include: Cultural Festival Program of Lam Dong Ethnic Minority Region, Southeast Asia Gong Harmony Night 2025, Brocade Fashion Show, Coffee and Heritage Festival.

The 2025 Lam Dong Ethnic Minority Cultural Festival is scheduled to take place on November 21-22 in Dong Gia Nghia Ward; The brocade fashion show is scheduled to take place on December 19 at the PiNi Tourist Area, Da Nghit Village, LangBiang Ward - Da Lat.

Two other activities will take place at Lam Vien Square, Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, which are the Coffee and Heritage Festival, scheduled to take place on December 18-20 and the Southeast Asian Gong Concert Night 2025, scheduled to take place on the evening of December 20.

At the meeting, in addition to discussing preparations for the festival, some delegates raised the issue of the need for training cooperation in the field of music related to gongs, especially the need for attention, support for investment in specialized facilities and additional staff to meet the strict standards of this art form.

In response to the above proposal, Mr. Dinh Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, agreed in principle to allow relevant units to cooperate with major music training institutions in the country to open suitable majors. The long-term goal is to move towards establishing a music faculty with an official major code, ensuring sustainability.

For the main festival night, Mr. Dinh Van Tuan requested that the script must be carefully constructed, ensuring harmony and liveliness between the ceremony, exchange and art performance, worthy of the development stature of the new Lam Dong province.
