Da Nang restaurant honored with prestigious 'one Michelin star'

After announcing the list of 42 "delicious, affordable" Bid Gourmand 2024 restaurants in Vietnam, on the evening of June 27, Michelin Guide announced for the first time the list of Michelin restaurants in Da Nang .

7 Vietnamese restaurants receive Michelin stars

The culinary night in Vietnam awarded one Michelin star to seven restaurants in Vietnam, including four that were awarded stars last year.

The three new restaurants joining the 'One Michelin Star' list are Akuna in Ho Chi Minh City - a restaurant specializing in European cuisine and La Maison 1888 in Da Nang.

The only restaurant from the Michelin Selected 2023 list to be promoted to one Michelin star this year - The Royal Pavilion in Ho Chi Minh City.

One-star restaurants announced last year retained their titles, including Gia, Hibana by Koki, Tam Vi and Anan Saigon.

According to the Michelin Guide, one star is awarded to restaurants "with delicious food that is worth stopping for".
Two stars means "the restaurant has excellent food quality, worthy of customers coming back".

Three stars (the highest) is where "the food quality is excellent, worth planning a trip to enjoy in person."

And after tonight, Michelin comes to Da Nang restaurants, bringing promotional opportunities to a large number of tourists.

Da Nang has 35 'delicious, affordable' spots selected by Michelin

In addition to announcing the star-rated restaurants, Michelin also announced 58 restaurants that won the Bid Gourmand award for "good food quality, affordable prices" and 99 restaurants selected by Michelin (Michelin Selected).

Of the 29 new Bid Gourmand award-winning venues, 16 are from Da Nang, 5 from Hanoi and 8 from Ho Chi Minh City.

These dining establishments are included on the shortlist as they demonstrate potential for future Michelin star advancement or transition to Bib Gourmand status.

In addition, Da Nang also has 19 dining establishments that are in the Michelin Selected category for the first time, bringing the total number of Da Nang dining establishments receiving the Michelin award for the first time to 35 locations.

According to the list, the Central region has popular eateries such as Be Ni 2, or My Quang Sua Hong Van, a famous street food stall, Indian Aroma Restaurant, a restaurant serving representative dishes from the North to the South in the hometown of an experienced Indian chef...

Notably, Nen Danang became the first restaurant in Vietnam to receive the Michelin Green Star award.

The Michelin Green Star award honors pioneering dining establishments that aim to build sustainable cuisine, providing an experience that combines culinary excellence with a serious commitment to environmental friendliness.

Mr. Gwendal Poullennec, international director of Michelin Guides, said that the addition of Da Nang, a new city in the second announcement of Michelin Guide in Vietnam, is a factor that helps make Michelin Guide's choices richer and more diverse.

Da Nang represents the unique local specialties of Central Vietnam, while reflecting influences from French, Chinese and other Southeast Asian cultures.

Thus, in the second time held in Vietnam, the Michelin guide awarded 164 Michelin stars to restaurants and eateries in three major cities in Vietnam.

Last year, Michelin-recognized restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi quickly attracted domestic and foreign tourists. And after tonight, Michelin will come to Da Nang restaurants, bringing the opportunity to promote to a large number of tourists.

According to the organizers, the Michelin award honors the freshness of the ingredients used, the cooking skills, the harmony of flavors, the chef's personality expressed through the dish and the consistency of the dish over time and across the entire menu.

3 Special Awards from Michelin Guide

Not only looking for quality and excellent taste, the Michelin Guide awards also honor talented individuals who have contributed to elevating the culinary experience.

In doing so, the Michelin Guide also recognizes the diversity of jobs and know-how in the restaurant industry.

This year, the Outstanding Young Chef Award was given to chef Duy Nguyen from Little Bear , a Michelin Selected restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City.

This year's Sommelier Award goes to Toan Nguyen from La Maison 1888 , the only restaurant in Da Nang to be awarded a Michelin Star.

This year's Dedication Award goes to Anh Nguyen from Si Dining , a Michelin Selected restaurant in Da Nang.
