Digital Content Creator: Overcoming the Pressure of a “Lonely Job”

The profession of content creator is becoming a “hot trend” (the “hottest” trend) today when anyone can join this playground. However, to truly make a living from this profession, young creators must constantly strive to overcome daily pressure, especially the race for numbers.

"Touch" from simple things

At the sharing session with the theme From zero to hero: Stories behind a "social media phenomenon" within the framework of the International Digital Content Creators Festival 2025 (Create Fest 2025), Le Tuan Khang - the owner of the hot trend that has been popular for a long time "death anniversary on the island" admitted that his first videos posted in 2018 only had... 1 subscriber and less than 100 views.

Even at that time, with a phone that did not have enough memory to record a long video, he had to delete all the applications to free up memory. "At that time, I decided to go to Ho Chi Minh City to work in a wood workshop and drive a motorbike taxi to have money to buy a phone with more memory, so that I could freely record long clips," Le Tuan Khang recalled. To date, this young man from Soc Trang has more than 13.3 million followers on TikTok and more than 720,000 followers on YouTube.

A look around social media platforms in Vietnam shows that viewers are interested in content about everyday life and familiar stories. According to branding expert Tran Tue Tri, creativity must be accompanied by sustainability and to spread, it must always be authentic.

This taste is clearly demonstrated through the success of prominent content creators today such as: Khoai Lang Thang, Jenny Huynh, Le Tuan Khang, Vung, BomBom Vlog, Loc Nong Thon, Ut Ve Vuon... The video content of these creators does not have elaborate scripts or professional effects, but is just like an electronic diary, recording familiar images that happen in life.

The interaction of such simple content is always surprisingly effective. Viewers do not hesitate to record their emotions under the video, even share their own stories, expressing sympathy and interest in following the life of an interesting young person.

Jenny Huynh, who started her first video at the age of 12, recording her daily activities of playing and studying, said: “My most popular video is about a flight from Vietnam to the US. In it, I only recorded the moments on the 27-hour flight, sharing my feelings, but it got a very high number of views.”

Persistent with passion

In fact, before having clips reaching millions, tens of millions of views and millions of followers on social media platforms, most digital content creators have to start from zero. But, even when they become famous content creators, the pressure comes to them in different ways.

There is a question that arises, when having achieved a certain success, will content creators still remain themselves, or change to "please" fans. Mosz Watchara - a content creator from Thailand with more than 910,000 followers on TikTok, affirmed: "To be successful, you must first be yourself, then listen to everyone's feedback to improve. I am always proud to be myself". Evelyn Hutani (Indonesia) also believes that if you choose to share the truth about yourself in the most positive way, you will receive sympathy.

From that challenge, to maintain their image in the hearts of the audience, creators need to find their own ways of telling stories, unique ways of exploiting topics that are familiar to everyone. Maintaining individuality in a sustainable way while still being new is always a difficult problem.

Le Tuan Khang admitted: “For the past 3 months, I haven’t made any more videos. I want to make something new, but I still haven’t found any ideas.” The famous couple Ninh Anh Bui and Nguyen Tung Duong also said that recently, they have been under pressure to find something new and unique to send to their fans.

Behind every video that attracts viewers is a calculated creative process. Many young people in the profession share that, to avoid running out of ideas, they often plan content from several months to a year. Some people record every moment of their daily life and store it in a large database for later use. Some videos were even filmed many years ago, and at some point, when they run out of topics, they can review and generate ideas from old videos.

Despite different views on content ideas, content creators all share the same view that image selection, post-production, and staging must be meticulous and professional, bringing viewers the most complete product. Jenny Huynh revealed that although the content may be a bit “nonsense”, the post-production stage is very serious, each of her videos usually takes from 5 to 10 days to produce.
