Da Nang strengthens protection of unexploited minerals in the area

The People's Committee of Da Nang City has just issued an official dispatch on strengthening coordination, inspection, search and protection of unexploited minerals in the city.

Accordingly, recently, through the reflection of some newspapers, radio stations and reports of the People's Committees of communes, illegal mining, transportation and processing of minerals have occurred and recurred in the city. This causes loss of resources, affects the environment, security and order, and people's lives and activities.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City assigned the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to proactively develop plans and allocate resources to implement mineral protection activities under the local authority. Directed the functional forces to coordinate with the City Police to continue to organize inspections, raids, prevent and expel illegal mineral miners in the management area. Especially the hot spots of gold mining in Phu Ninh, Phuoc Nang, Phuoc Thanh, Phuoc Hiep communes... and sand mining in rivers.

Destroy and confiscate tools and means involved in illegal mineral exploitation and processing and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the law according to their authority and regulations. Regularly monitor, inspect, and handle to prevent the recurrence of illegal mineral exploitation. Mobilize local people not to exploit, purchase, store, or transport minerals illegally, detect and denounce illegal mineral exploitation.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City also requested the City Police to direct functional forces to regularly coordinate and support local authorities in organizing inspections and raids on illegal mineral mining sites, especially gold minerals. Destroy and confiscate tools, instruments, and vehicles involved in illegal mineral mining and processing.

Strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the law, especially the heads of organizations that conduct illegal mineral exploitation. In cases where there are sufficient elements to constitute a crime, criminal liability will be prosecuted according to regulations to deter, educate and take management measures, not to let illegal mineral exploitation recur in areas where the crackdown has been organized and repelled.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment promptly issues documents within its authority or advises the City People's Committee to direct localities and functional forces to organize inspections, sweeps, expels, and strictly handles subjects participating in illegal mineral exploitation, and strengthens the responsibility of State management of mineral resources in the city.

Previously, SGGP Online reported that the illegal gold mining situation in Thanh Binh commune was complicated. The subjects illegally mined gold at many locations in the commune. Although the locality organized many raids, the situation has not improved.
