Musician NGUYEN QUANG VINH: A beautiful mark for Ho Chi Minh City music

The works of the songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" are priceless gifts, the feelings of musicians for Ho Chi Minh City.

That was the affirmation of musician Nguyen Quang Vinh - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, member of the Jury Council - when talking with a reporter from the Lao Dong Newspaper.

Reporter: Looking back at the journey of the songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper, what do you feel?

- Musician NGUYEN QUANG VINH: The songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy", aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) is an extremely meaningful musical event. More than 160 songs by more than 120 musicians participated, many of which expressed feelings about the city named after Uncle Ho with passionate, profound melodies, creating a warm, close feeling that touches people's hearts.

I believe that these are priceless gifts from professional and amateur musicians, those who have lived and experienced Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City, to Ho Chi Minh City - the heroic city, to the people of Ho Chi Minh City, especially the young generation. These works also contribute to beautifying the Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space of Ho Chi Minh City.

From the perspective of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, what do you think about the influence of the movement?

- The songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" has proven that in the process of building the Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space, Ho Chi Minh City has been effectively applying music in propagating and spreading Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, so that his example permeates every citizen. The songs have recorded and expressed pride in the constant development of Ho Chi Minh City when mentioning the places and newly built works, worthy of being a civilized, modern and affectionate city.

. To create a new look for cultural and artistic life, in your opinion, what needs to be done to promote the results of the movement?

- Recently, many good and valuable musical works have been composed, contributing to building the Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space.

With the songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy", the organizing committee has the strength of a prestigious media agency, with many activities behind the press such as: Mai Vang Award, "Proud of the National Flag" program, writing competitions such as: "Kindness around us", "The Doctor in me"... These are effective communication channels to promote the results of the campaign. In addition, printing a collection of 50 selected songs will be a practical publication, when each song has a QR code so that viewers can look up and enjoy the compositions that are harmonized and arranged really well, performed by singers and artists who have won Mai Vang Awards in the past 30 years. Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper should organize "Music Exchanges" periodically to promote award-winning songs, exchange with musicians, singers, singing groups... and strongly promote these activities on many digital platforms.

. Do you have any suggestions on promoting works written about Ho Chi Minh City towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification?

- The songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" initiated by the Lao Dong Newspaper has gathered many new songs of high professional quality with many youthful colors, creating a beautiful mark for the music of Ho Chi Minh City. For many musicians, when composing according to the theme, they are very thoughtful because the song will have difficulty in popularizing. The composer's desire is that the brainchild will be accepted by the public. Therefore, not only is it an occasion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, but the works of the songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" need a long-term promotion plan, with many diverse forms to attract listeners.

It is expected that songs about Ho Chi Minh City from "The Country Full of Joy" will become "hits" of Vietnamese music in the near future.

"The Ho Chi Minh City Music Association will join hands with the Lao Dong Newspaper to promote songs from the songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" to contribute to spreading good songs about Ho Chi Minh City, especially songs composed by young authors" - musician Nguyen Quang Vinh, affirmed.
