Attending the ceremony were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam Ito Naoki; Vice Chairman of Ha Nam Provincial People's Committee Truong Xuan Dung; representatives of the provincial Department of Health and leaders of Ha Nam Provincial Eye Hospital.

The equipment package worth over 73,500 USD handed over includes a green laser photocoagulation machine for the treatment of retinal diseases, helping to diagnose and treat early about 200 patients each year; a portable refractive-keratoscopic device, helping the hospital diagnose and accurately treat about 35,000 students each year during mobile screening sessions at schools in the province.

Ha Nam Provincial Eye Hospital currently receives about 20,000 patients each year and organizes periodic screening for about 100,000 students. However, due to lack of modern equipment, early detection of serious cases is still limited.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Ito Naoki expressed his belief that the new equipment will not only help prevent the condition from getting worse for patients coming for eye treatment, but also help the hospital's doctors conduct effective periodic health check-ups at schools, detect refractive errors in children early, and create conditions to support them in learning better.

The Ambassador also affirmed that the project will contribute to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Japan, and is a symbol of the increasingly developing cooperative relationship towards the future.

After the handover ceremony, Ambassador Ito went to Liem Chinh Secondary School (Phu Ly city) to inspect the screening activities for students using the newly donated equipment and interacted with the students, conveying the message about the importance of protecting eyes through screening.
