Japanese media said Prime Minister Kishida may replace the Foreign Minister and Defense Minister in this cabinet reshuffle.
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will be succeeded by former Justice Minister Yoko Kamikawa, NHK reported today. Ms. Kamikawa is one of five female officials in Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's new cabinet, a significant increase from the current two female officials.
Minoru Kihara, a former special adviser to former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, will replace Yasukazu Hamada as head of the Defense Ministry . Economy Minister Shigeyuki Goto will be replaced by ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) lawmaker Yoshitaka Shindo.
Most other positions remain the same, such as Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki and Industry Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura. This is a sign that Japan will not have any significant changes in economic policy, according to NHK. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno remains.

Prime Minister Kishida said on September 10 that he plans to reshuffle his cabinet as early as September 13 and will set up a package of "strong" measures to boost Japan's economic recovery.
The move comes as recent polls show a decline in support for Mr. Kishida, who takes office in 2021. Data released last week also showed that Japan's economy grew less than initially forecast in the second quarter and wages fell in July, raising doubts about the country's central bank's forecast of an economic recovery.
