Poet and journalist Thuan Huu, real name Nguyen Huu Thuan, was a student of the Literature Department, Hanoi University of Science. He is a member of the Party Central Committee, 11th and 12th terms, former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association (2011-2021).

This is his fourth book. The first book of poems was called “Those Moments of Disturbance” - published by the Quang Nam - Da Nang Literature and Arts Association in 1987); the story collection “Daylight” (Da Nang Publishing House, 1988), the poetry collection “The Sea Calls” (Da Nang Publishing House, 2000). Although he has four books, he still does not consider himself a poet and he has not joined the Vietnam Writers Association.

The collection of poems consists of three parts: Homeland - Country, Relatives - Memories and Love of the Sea - Love of You with more than 100 poems. The prominent theme of the collection of poems is "Love for Homeland and Country".

In the opening poem - My Village, he wrote: "I am the child of a hilly region/ But also the child of the sea/ The love of the country is in my blood/ I grew up in the sun and wind of the mountains and the waves of the ocean ".

Poet Thuan Huu has traveled to almost every province and city in the country. His poems are works he “picked up” from the many lands he traveled through, from his encounters and from his own family and loved ones.

In the introduction to the collection "Picked up along the road", writer Nguyen Quang Thieu wrote: ''When he writes about sadness, pain, uncertainty, darkness and anything else, in the end, beauty, love for humanity, the light of hope, and human pride still overcome everything to resonate''.

The appendix includes analyses of Thuan Huu’s famous works, including “Nhung mat xa long”. This is a poem he wrote at the age of 20 and became famous from then on when many musicians chose to set it to music.

The book is beautifully presented with many illustrations and the cover is drawn by artist Dao Hai Phong. At the launch, artist Dao Hai Phong shared: "I draw the roads that author Thuan Huu has traveled, some people will find it familiar because they have also traveled those roads, at some point in time."
