Lahaina (also known as Lele) is located 45 minutes from Kahului Airport and is designated a National Historic Landmark. Lahaina welcomes about two million visitors each year, accounting for 80% of visitors to Maui.

The town was left in ruins after the fire. This photo shows a coastal road in the town, with houses and trees burning down. Several cars along the road were also burned, leaving only ash-covered ruins. Photo: Google maps, AFP.
