Ho Chi Minh's song resonates in Canada
On May 17, the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Society (CVFS) organized an online seminar with the theme "Legacy and historical contributions of President Ho Chi Minh to the Vietnamese people and the world ", attracting the participation of many Canadian friends and overseas Vietnamese.
In the distant land of Canada, Canadian friends were deeply moved and impressed when they saw documentary films about Uncle Ho, and heard songs that are in the hearts of the Vietnamese people: "Who loves Uncle Ho Chi Minh more than children", "Uncle Ho is marching with us"...
Delegates discussed enthusiastically about Vietnam's contributions to the world's national liberation movement, about the heart of an outstanding revolutionary, about his noble and simple life...
Mr. Philip Fernandez, member of CVFS commented: Vietnam today remains faithful to the teachings, leadership and legacy of President Ho Chi Minh. Under the experienced and tested leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the Vietnamese people are building a prosperous future for each individual and for the whole nation, 10 times more beautiful than in the past.
At the Conference, many Canadian readers were very interested in the e-book “Ho Chi Minh Song” by author Nguyen Dai Trang (President of the Canada-ASEAN Association, York University) with 25 songs (translated into English) and images of monuments and memorial sites of Uncle Ho in more than 20 countries.
It is known that the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada is making efforts to prepare for the inauguration of the Ho Chi Minh Gallery at the Vietnam House on the occasion of National Day, September 2, which is also the 75th anniversary of Uncle Ho reading the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Special affection for President Ho Chi Minh
Every year, on May 19, many diplomats, Russian friends and the masses come to the Ho Chi Minh Square in the center of Moscow to lay flowers and pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh. This year, due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic in Russia and Moscow, mass activities were not held.
According to Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Ngo Duc Manh, the people of the Soviet Union and Russia always hold special affection for President Ho Chi Minh. The Ambassador shared: “In my position, I have had many opportunities to meet and interact with leaders of the Russian Federation, local leaders, Russian Vietnam scholars, friends and the Russian people. Everywhere I go, I encounter extremely affectionate and respectful feelings towards our Uncle Ho.”
Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh said that this year, on the 130th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2020), an online conference will take place between Saint Petersburg and Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of the top leaders of the two localities.
In addition, according to Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh, the Vietnamese diplomatic representative agency in Russia is actively working with the leaders of Saint Petersburg city to promote the erection of a statue of Uncle Ho in this city. "This is the place that marks Uncle Ho's first visit to the Soviet Union, to the country of Lenin."

On May 15, the Vietnamese Embassy in France and the authorities of Montreuil city, a suburb of Paris, solemnly held a flower-laying ceremony at the statue of Uncle Ho in Montreau Park. After Ambassador Nguyen Thiep and Mayor Patrice Bessac laid flowers in tribute to Uncle Ho, the delegates observed a minute of silence to remember him.
Ambassador Nguyen Thiep highly appreciated the viewpoint of the Montreuil City Hall under the leadership of Mayor Patrice Bessac in considering the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Montreau Park as part of the city's cultural heritage, as well as the relics and documents about President Ho Chi Minh preserved and displayed in the Living History Museum. This is a precious heritage that we all need to honor, supplement and preserve forever, because this is part of the common memory and of the golden pages of history that we have written, are writing and will continue to write for future generations of the two countries.
According to Mayor Patrice Bessac, President Ho Chi Minh was not only a great leader of the Vietnamese people but also had great influence in France and the world against slavery, colonialism and imperialism. The city of Montreuil was honored to participate in the celebration of his birthday. The mayor affirmed the long-standing close friendship between the people of Montreuil and the people of Vietnam. He hoped that during the next 6-year term, the bilateral relationship would continue to develop even stronger.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in France donated 1,000 masks to the people of Montreuil city, in the context that France is gradually restoring socio-economic activities after 2 months of lockdown to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organize online contest about Uncle Ho
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine has coordinated with Ho Chi Minh Specialized Language School No. 251 to launch an online writing contest to learn about the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh and the country and people of Vietnam. The contest lasted from April 15 to May 15, 2020 and the Organizing Committee received many articles from students of Ho Chi Minh Specialized Language School No. 251.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Anh Tuan, Head of the Jury, said that the content of the articles showed deep understanding of the background, life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh, the achievements of the Doi Moi process of Vietnam as well as the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Ukraine. In particular, Ukrainian students, as well as students who are children of second and third generations of Vietnamese people born and raised in Ukraine, are proud to study at the school named after President Ho Chi Minh, where there is a small museum preserving Uncle Ho's memorabilia, valuable documents and materials about the friendly relationship between the two countries.
The Organizing Committee has selected 3 outstanding and elaborate articles to award prizes.
Previously, on the afternoon of May 10, the Vietnamese Language Committee of the Vietnamese Association of Kharkov province organized an online "Ring the Golden Bell" contest with the theme "Following Uncle Ho's footsteps" for children of the community who are studying Vietnamese language classes in the city.
Through the process of learning about Uncle Ho, students not only gain knowledge about him but also learn more about the history of the Vietnamese people's heroic and arduous struggle that lasted nearly a century to gain independence, freedom, and national unification.
