The week of "Great Unity of Ethnic Groups - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" with the highlight being the Then singing and Tinh lute art festival of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups will take place in Son Tay, Hanoi .
About 400 artisans, artists, and ethnic people will participate in the "Great Unity of Ethnic Groups - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" Week in 2024 and the 7th Then Singing and Tinh Instrument Festival of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups in 2024 at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village, Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi.
On November 7, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a press conference to provide information about these two events.
According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, the event contributes to preserving and promoting the tradition of great national unity; honoring the cultural heritage of Vietnamese ethnic groups; and enhancing cultural, sports and tourism exchange activities.
This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2024) and the anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23).
Accordingly, the program will spread and promote the national cultural identity, preserve, promote and honor the cultural identity of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups; raise awareness and responsibility in building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development, thereby strengthening links and coordination with localities in preserving, maintaining and promoting the values of national cultural heritage and in activities to promote, advertise, develop tourism as well as attract tourists to the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.
Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy affirmed that the Then singing and Tinh musical instrument festival of the Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups is a meaningful activity, aiming to honor, preserve and promote the fine traditional cultural values of the Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups in the unified and diverse culture of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam; creating conditions for localities to exchange, learn and share experiences, contributing to raising awareness and consciousness in preserving and maintaining national cultural identity, promoting the value of the Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on "Then practice of the Tay, Nung and Thai people in Vietnam" which was recognized by UNESCO on December 12, 2019.
“After many years taking place in the provinces of the Northwest region, this year's Then singing and Tinh lute art festival of the Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups is held at the 'common home' of 54 ethnic groups, demonstrating the spirit of great national unity and also an opportunity for the people of the capital and international visitors to learn about the Then practice that has been recognized by UNESCO,” said Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy.
The 2024 "Great Unity of Ethnic Groups - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" Week will take place from November 15 to November 24, including many activities introducing the cultural colors of ethnic groups in the regions such as: Reenacting the Sayangva Festival of the Cho Ro ethnic group in Dong Nai province; folk song, dance, and folk games exchanges of Khmer ethnic groups; Cultural exchange festival of ethnic groups in the Central Highlands...
The 7th Then singing and Tinh musical instrument festival of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups in 2024 will take place from November 16-18, including an exhibition space to introduce traditional cultural products of localities participating in the festival; demonstration of traditional brocade weaving and Tinh musical instrument making of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups; and exhibition and introduction of ethnic cuisine./.
