At the reception area of Ho Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital, waiting for a skin examination, Ms. Thu Tram (48 years old, Vietnamese American) shared that she traveled from Kien Giang to Ho Chi Minh City to treat melasma.

"My melasma made me feel self-conscious when communicating, so when I returned home, an acquaintance introduced me to a local spa for treatment. However, the melasma got worse. Worried, I asked a relative to take me to the Dermatology Hospital for a check-up," said Ms. Tram.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong (37 years old, Vietnamese expatriate in Germany) said that because she had an ugly scar under her chin, when she returned to Vietnam she looked for ways to remove the scar. "I searched for information online and saw that many cosmetic facilities made a commitment to completely remove the scar. However, through the information in the newspaper, there were many cosmetic surgery accidents that made me worried. Therefore, after researching, I decided to go to the hospital for examination and treatment" - Ms. Huong expressed.

Ms. Huong revealed that in Germany, the cost of cosmetic surgery is very high, and the procedure is also complicated. "In Germany, when I go for a check-up, I have to see a specialist, then the doctor will refer me to another place to do it. Therefore, it takes a lot of time and procedures, so I am hesitant," she said.

Sharing the same opinion, Ms. Tran Pham Nguyen Khanh - 27 years old, Vietnamese expatriate in Taiwan (China) - shared that in Taiwan she never thought of cosmetic surgery because of the high cost. "Sometimes I go to the spa for massage and facial masks, but the cost in Vietnamese currency is up to 5-6 million VND" - Ms. Khanh said.

Master, Doctor Le Thao Hien, Department of Dermatology, Dermatology Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City said that every year the hospital receives many overseas Vietnamese for skin treatment and beauty. The Dermatology Department at the hospital is equipped with modern machinery and equipment. Doctors are regularly sent to study cosmetic dermatology courses abroad, so they have high professional qualifications and can absorb the latest technologies.

In particular, the cost of performing cosmetic techniques in Vietnam is lower than in other countries in the world . This is the reason why not only overseas Vietnamese but also many foreigners choose Vietnam for beauty treatments.

"However, not all cosmetic facilities can beautify quickly, effectively and safely. In fact, the hospital has received many cases of overseas Vietnamese who, due to not researching carefully and believing the advertisements of some cosmetic facilities, have had complications such as: necrosis due to filler injections for nose augmentation; uneven eyelid surgery; granulomas after mesotherapy injections or bad scars; hyperpigmentation due to excessive use of invasive lasers in skin rejuvenation treatments..." - Dr. Hien worries.

For safe and effective beauty, doctors recommend that before performing beauty or cosmetic procedures, you need to choose a reputable facility with a clear license, a team of experienced dermatologists and cosmeticians, and modern equipment to avoid future complications.
