The drill on investigating and handling food poisoning cases at crowded parties in Nhu Xuan district in 2025 aims to equip local medical units with the procedures for investigating, handling and responding to food poisoning cases.
Hypothetical situation at noon on May 23, 2025 (at Mr. Nguyen Van An's family, located in Binh Luong commune, a wedding was held for his son, inviting more than 100 guests to attend and have dinner. After eating, these people went home; by noon of the same day, some people who ate at Mr. Nguyen Van An's party showed symptoms of headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and frequent diarrhea... These people were quickly transferred by their families and relatives to the Commune Health Station for emergency care and treatment. As of 2:00 p.m. on the same day, a total of 9 patients were transferred to the Commune Health Station for examination and treatment, including 4 severe patients and 5 mild patients (including 2 severe patients who had to be transferred to a higher level).
After receiving the information, the District Medical Center was present promptly, coordinated with the District General Hospital to directly go to Binh Luong Commune Medical Station for examination and treatment to support the Medical Station in transferring seriously ill patients to other hospitals; reported to the Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department and the District People's Committee to mobilize forces and means to the scene to treat and provide emergency care to patients, investigate, verify, collect samples of specimens and food samples for testing, determine the cause of poisoning and trace the origin of food, and handle environmental sanitation.
The drill aims to model the organization and direction of the implementation of investigation and handling of food poisoning occurring at a crowded party; practice implementing technical measures according to food poisoning investigation procedures, and effectively handle food poisoning cases involving many people.
Through the drill, it helps people to improve their sense of responsibility, creating close coordination between the government and relevant departments and agencies to respond promptly when food poisoning occurs in the area. At the same time, it contributes to improving the response capacity of medical staff in admitting and treating patients; and improving people's sense of responsibility in ensuring food safety when organizing large parties in accordance with regulations.
