Singer Trong Tan performed the song "The Country is Full of Joy" at the 100th anniversary celebration of the construction and development of Nha Trang City (1924 - 2024). |
In the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign, each musician placed himself as a "music reporter", following the footsteps of the liberation army, waiting for news every minute, every hour sent from the battlefield, and then many emotions flew away to write songs that urged, encouraged, and moved people's hearts. Looking back at the musical works born during the months of fighting for the final battle, today's music lovers especially respect and show gratitude to the country's musicians at that time. Songs were born one after another like waves surging on the ocean. In the Hue - Da Nang campaign, we had the songs: Sending to liberated Hue (Nguyen Van Thuong), Hue of us (Thanh Phuc), Brothers returning in the middle of beloved Hue (Vu Thanh), Red River Wind Calls for the Sun of the Huong River (Van An), Hello liberated Da Nang (Pham Tuyen), Da Nang oh! We're back ( Phan Huynh Dieu), Singing about resilient Da Nang (Cao Viet Bach), Our hometown Da Nang is liberated (Nguyen Duc Toan), Hello Da Nang, brave soldiers on the East Sea (Nguyen An), The Han River echoes with singing (Huy Du)...
After that, when the revolutionary armies came to liberate the provinces along the Central Coast, the public was able to live with victory songs: Quang Ngai, my hometown, this spring morning (Anh Duong), Binh Dinh, our hometown (Tran Huu Phap), Quy Nhon spring - Binh Dinh spring (Dan Huyen), Hello Nha Trang liberated (Hoang Ha), Nha Trang spring this spring, the sea sings (Thinh Truong), Singing to celebrate Nha Trang liberated ( Nguyen Nung)... The songs were composed at the right time when the fighting and victory spirit was boiling throughout the battlefields, creating great news power and were the trumpets of battle cheering and encouraging millions of hearts of soldiers and people across the country.
Then all came to the moment of history, April 30, 1975, the Ho Chi Minh campaign was completely victorious, the South was completely liberated. When the news of victory flew back, the musicians joined in the great joy of the nation to record the emotions of "the day went like a dream", "the joy made tears flow". The great musicians of the country coincidentally came together to write songs of victory. Musician Pham Tuyen had the song Like having Uncle Ho on the great victory day, a collective song connecting the people and soldiers from all over the country to create a great choir. Next was a series of songs: We have returned to Saigon ( Van Dung), Singing about the city named Vang (Cat Van), Spring of Vietnam - Spring of complete victory (Luu Cau), Vietnam on the day of great victory (Vu Thanh), In the middle of Saigon liberation (Ho Bac), Listening to folk songs at night in Saigon (Dan Huyen), Spring in Ho Chi Minh city (Xuan Hong), Singing from the city named after Him (Cao Viet Bach - Dang Trung)... were brought to the audience one after another. Standing out among the songs about the liberation day of the South is the song "The country is full of joy" by musician Hoang Ha. Until today and forever, every time April 30th comes, the melodies and lyrics of this song resound everywhere and resonate in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. What is quite special is that this song was composed by musician Hoang Ha on the night of April 26, 1975 at his private home in Hanoi and on the morning of April 27, 1975, the song was brought to the Voice of Vietnam Radio to be staged with the voice of People's Artist Trung Kien. Musician Hoang Ha wrote this song when he had never been to Ho Chi Minh City, but from the sensitivity of the artist, the concern and great emotion for the country helped him write heroic, bustling melodies but also very emotional and touched the feelings of generations of Vietnamese people: " We walk in the thousands of golden stars and fluttering flags/Bustling and passionate footsteps rushing here/Oh Saigon, steadfast in faith for so many years/A happy day of liberation/We hear the echo of Uncle Ho's voice rising from the mountains and rivers/The stars are sparkling today, Uncle is happy with the people's assembly/Oh the steadfast citadel has resounded with victory/Oh boundless happiness, sing again, my dear, the words of love...". Forty-nine springs have passed, but every time we listen to the melodies of the songs celebrating the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, our hearts rise with pride and gratitude to the previous generations. The historical moments of the nation will forever remain in the lyrics and music, making each person love Vietnam even more.
