Sharing with reporters of the People's Army Newspaper, Major General Bui Thien Thau, Deputy Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, said: "Immediately after receiving the above assigned task, the Standing Party Committee and the Service Command determined that this was an important and urgent task, so they quickly directed the 916th Air Force Regiment to quickly coordinate with the Department of Rescue and Relief (General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army) and other units to prepare immediately that night. The shipments were delivered to the people in the disaster-stricken areas, showing the affection and responsibility of the soldiers who always turn to the people."

The flight crews carrying out the mission included experienced pilots: Colonel Nguyen Ba Duc, Deputy Regiment Commander, Chief of Staff; Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hoang, Deputy Political Commissar of the Regiment; Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Manh Hung, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Regiment; Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Truan, Squadron Leader of Squadron 2; Lieutenant Colonel Ha Xuan Ngoc, Chief of Regimental Navigation; Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Tuan, Flight Safety Assistant... along with officers, navigation staff, aviation technicians and the airborne search and rescue team.

Around noon, the helicopters slowly descended to the positions of Tia Dinh and Na Son communes (Dien Bien province). Local people and forces had been waiting since early morning. They lined up in two long lines to urgently transport goods, medicine, and necessities to the assembly location... Local leaders and people expressed their emotions when the officers and soldiers of the Army units wholeheartedly helped their compatriots; demonstrating the spirit of "Forgetting oneself for the people". In difficult times, the soldiers always sacrifice themselves for the peaceful life of the people.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hoang, Deputy Political Commissar of Air Force Regiment 916, shared: “To prepare thoroughly and ensure the safety of the flight, we had to get up at 3 a.m. Although the flight route to Dien Bien is not far, the terrain is mountainous and rugged, with dense fog, especially in the Northwest region. Therefore, the flight crews had to use all their experience and coordinate skillfully with ground command units and local receiving units to reach the right point of relief, ensuring absolute safety while promptly delivering goods and necessities to the people.”
