New marks of writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu

Although he will not release any new works in 2024, writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu still leaves outstanding impressions through reprinted works, translations and joint collections.

One of them is the collection of essays Tomorrow of Tomorrows, first published in 2007 after the novel Endless Fields became a hit. This comeback after more than 15 years was carried out by Tre Publishing House with 36 essays revolving around many topics, focusing on the fate and life of ordinary people in the countryside. Still with a simple, rustic writing style but subtly capturing the moments of empathy in human emotions, in this work, what is most Nguyen Ngoc Tu will still return with a literature that seems like nothingness but carries extremely deep emotions.

Also produced and expected to be released by Tre Publishing House this August is the short story collection Tuyet Duyen with the participation of 9 prominent Asian authors, from Korea, China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand... These are all famous faces not only domestically but also internationally, such as Sayaka Murata who won the Akutagawa Award with The Convenience Store Girl or Hao Canh Phuong, the second Chinese writer to win the Hugo Award after Luu Tu Han with the famous Tam The ... The work was released simultaneously in Japan and Korea in 2022. Nguyen Ngoc Tu participated here with a short story about a woman who announced her disownment of her child at the exact time of her child's wedding.

Last month, the novel Water: A Chronicle by Nguyen Ngoc Tu, translated into English by Nguyen An Ly, also won the PEN Translates 2024 translation award, contributing to once again introducing this writer to international readers after Endless Fields appeared in English and German. The work will be released next October by Major Books Publishing House based in London (UK) with the mission of promoting Vietnamese literature to the world . In the future, works by Vu Trong Phung, Vu Dinh Giang... as well as young authors who won the San Ho New Writing Award organized by San Ho Books will also be translated and introduced by this unit.
