Specialist Doctor I Tran The Thang, Director of Operations of Hanoi - Dong Nai Eye Hospital (Tam Hiep Ward), said that there are many types of prosthetic eyes with different prices depending on the material and the patient's aesthetic needs. Before performing prosthetic eye installation, the ophthalmologist will examine, evaluate, and place a material, usually silicon or biological materials, to restore the tissue and volume of the eye socket. Then, perform surgery to create the patient's eye socket tissue. The prosthetic eye installation process will be performed by plastic surgery technicians, so that the prosthetic eye looks as similar as possible to a real eye.

After the prosthetic eye is fitted, the doctor will instruct the patient on how to clean the prosthetic eye so that it does not get damaged and affect its function. When going to bed at night, the patient needs to take out the prosthetic eye, soak it in a box of tears to ensure hygiene, and then put the prosthetic eye back on in the morning. The patient should take care of the prosthetic eye well because if it is dropped, broken or scratched, it will affect the aesthetics of the prosthetic eye.

Dr. Thang especially noted that if the artificial eye is not removed within a week for cleaning, it will become inflamed, have eye discharge, swollen eyes, red eyes, and sclerosis. Therefore, patients need to follow the doctor's instructions to clean the artificial eye and keep it safe.
