On the morning of October 10, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tien, Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology ( Quang Nam General Hospital - located in Tam Ky Ward, Da Nang City), said that doctors at the hospital had just successfully performed a rare clinical surgery, removing a tumor containing fungal bacteria, helping the patient escape from persistent pain.
After surgery, the patient's health was stable, no more pain in the eye sockets, forehead, and head; eyes could see clearly, he could walk straight, no longer closed his eyes and bent over like before surgery.

Previously, on the morning of October 7, the ENT department received patient HPH (71 years old, in Tay Ho commune, Da Nang city) for examination with severe pain in the eye socket and left forehead.
Mr. H. said he had been to an ophthalmologist and neurologist for more than 3 months but with no results. The pain increased, forcing him to keep his eyes closed and walk with his head bent over.
After examination, endoscopy and maxillofacial CT scan, doctors discovered a solid mass in the left frontal sinus, spreading down to the left ethmoid sinus.
Doctor Tien said this is a rare and difficult case to diagnose.
On the afternoon of October 9, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tien and his team performed surgery by opening the left frontal bone and removed the entire tumor containing large, black-green, solidified fungal bacteria that spread from the frontal sinus to the ethmoid sinus.
After surgery, the patient's health was stable, no more pain in the eye sockets, forehead, and head; eyes could see clearly, walk straight, no longer closed eyes and bent over like before.
Mr. H. is currently being monitored and treated at the ENT department.
