Loving Moments When the Storm Hits

(Baohatinh.vn) - Storm No. 5 swept through Ha Tinh, bringing with it rising water and strong winds, but it could not sweep away the meals passed around at the shelters, nor could it extinguish the grateful eyes or the reunion hugs amidst the storm.

The rain poured down heavily, the old man lay still on a makeshift stretcher, his legs no longer strong enough to escape the storm by himself. The Viet Xuyen Commune Policemen struggled to carry him through the muddy, cold flooded road to a safe shelter. Without words, safety and kindness were completely given in that moment.

The wind blew hard and howled, but the authorities were still working hard to evacuate the elderly and children, still encouraging them: "It's okay, we're almost there."

In the storm shelter, a little boy slept soundly on a hastily spread out mat. His sleep was fitful but strangely peaceful because outside, the local authorities had taken care of everything from accommodation, food, warm clothes and even peace of mind that he was not old enough to understand.

A child nestled next to her, clutching a pillow, eyes wide open as she watched the rain pouring down on the porch. In her arms, no matter how strong the wind was, it could not scare her.

A raincoat was draped over the old man’s shoulders, a bowl of hot rice was gently placed in his hand, a resting place was reserved, and a warm blanket was ready. When his relatives came to pick him up, he held his son’s hand, then turned around and bowed his head to thank these strangers who felt as warm as family.

A man fell off his bike in the middle of the road in heavy rain, lying in the middle of a storm. A car stopped in the middle of the road, turned on its hazard lights, shielding him from oncoming traffic and the storm. Several people rushed out to help him up, none of them knew each other, but in the rain and wind at that time, all they could think of was their fellow countrymen.

In the crowded storm shelter hall, a group of people hurriedly cooked porridge and instant noodles in a makeshift stove, serving bowls to children and the elderly. The hot steam of the porridge spread to their hearts, soothing the cold of the storm.

After many hours of being lost before the storm hit, the disabled man was finally able to sit in a warm room of the Dong Loc Commune Police Station, eating a bowl of hot noodles. No one spoke, but the eyes of those around him were gentle and protective.

Local leaders directly visited and encouraged people in the evacuation area, sending their deep affection and concern during the stormy days.

On rainy days, when nature challenges everything, sharing, tight handshakes, and gentle eyes become the most solid support.
