Writing about their comrades, war invalid writers in Quang Ninh have created beautiful portraits of their comrades with words of praise, sympathy, and even loss and sacrifice.

Writer Nguyen Tung Lam is a 1/4th grade severely disabled veteran, once a Truong Son driver, dedicating his youth on the fiery bomb-filled road, overcoming all the fierceness under the rain of bombs and bullets of the American invaders to deliver supplies to the battlefield with his comrades. He sacrificed a part of his body on the battlefield, and his eyes only had a part of the light left. However, in the past 15 years, writer Tung Lam has published 7 books. Including two poetry collections "Huong Tinh" and "Nhung Drops of Spring Sunshine", 1 memoir collection "Truong Son Ngay Ay", 2 short story collections "Cung Duong Lua" and "Tinh Em Noi Dau Song", 2 novels "Nga Xo" and "Cung Duong Tinh Yeu".
Tung Lam's literature expresses his deep sorrow for his comrades who fought and died on the Truong Son route that day. All the memories came back, urging him to write about the hardships and sacrifices in the resistance war against the US to save the country. As a severely wounded soldier, he overcame all the difficulties of life and gradually completed literary works on the theme of revolutionary war. Writer Tung Lam also wrote about the harshness of the post-war period when wounded soldiers had to face the difficulties of everyday life. He has been awarded many literary awards, such as: Third Prize (short story) of the Vietnam Writers Association and the Ministry of Transport in 2015, Third Prize of Ha Long Literature and Arts for the period 2015-2020, Third Prize of Vo Huy Tam Award in 2015 and 2022, Third Prize of the Literature, Arts and Journalism Composition Contest to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the province's founding in 2023.
There is another writer who specializes in writing true, touching stories about the noble comradeship, the close-knit relationship between the army and the people, the loyal and steadfast love between the rear and the frontline, that is Luong Liem. Writer Luong Liem, a member of the Quang Ninh Literature and Arts Association, a former army major, a soldier during the war against the Americans, a war invalid, a victim of Agent Orange/dioxin, currently living in Quang Yen town. He came to literature quite late, starting with poetry. In 2012, his first collection of poems "Wind of the Countryside" was published. In 3 consecutive years 2014, 2015 and 2016, he continued to publish the collections of poems "Giot nang vu vo", "Thuong nho mot thoi" and "Tam tinh nuoc bu".

Perhaps, realizing that the real experiences and rich life experiences during the war, which were exchanged with blood and tears of himself and his comrades, were difficult to convey through poetry, he turned to writing and started with the short story collection "Tieng xoe trong dem". There are also hidden corners of war, thoughts and feelings of soldiers that were difficult to express at that time. Each character in Luong Liem's short stories are close comrades in the war against America to save the country.
Not long after that, his first novel was published, entitled “Soldiers’ Love Story”. The novel is based on the lives of real prototypes who are the author’s comrades, a soldier who devoted his youth to the battlefields from Thua Thien Hue to Quang Nam, Da Nang . As someone who has experienced many units of different military branches and services in the fiercest battlefields, writer Luong Liem has a wealth of life experience and understanding of soldiers. That life experience has helped Luong Liem bring readers the most realistic and vivid perspectives on Uncle Ho’s soldiers.

In addition to the above cases, in Quang Ninh today there are many writers who are passionately writing about comrades, such as: Nguyen Duy Liem, Tran Ngoc Duong, Do Dang Hanh, Ngo Hai Dao, Trong Khang, Nguyen Quang Vinh... Among them, Nguyen Duy Liem is an author who is very passionate about this topic. He has a good collection of stories called "Behind the Soldiers". In 2015, his novel "The War is Over" won the C prize of the Literature and Arts Award on the topic of armed forces and revolutionary war organized by the Ministry of National Defense. Immediately after that, he published the novel "Dat Lang Boi" about 3 generations of soldiers in a family.
Sharing the same sentiment is writer Tran Ngoc Duong, a former war invalid who returned to work at Deo Nai Coal Company. For the past 25 years, he has focused on writing with many short story collections and novels published. Tran Ngoc Duong's prose deeply explores the theme of revolutionary war. The novels "The House Under the Bougainvillea Trellis", "Limits", "Sand on a Distant Island" express the life experience of a person who experienced the resistance war against America to save the country with emotions imbued with compassion and humane spirit.
