In the context of complicated developments in the world and the region; world economic and trade growth has recovered but not strongly and sustainably; along with the energy crisis, climate change, Russia - Ukraine military conflict ... have deeply affected the security, politics, economy - society of many countries and regions, including Vietnam. However, the import and export activities of the whole country in general and Hoa Binh province in the first half of 2024 continued to flourish.
Leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade and delegates attended the export ceremony of Bat Bao Minh Trung lotus porridge products to the Czech Republic.
Along with the recovery of the world economy and the efforts of enterprises to diversify markets, the export of goods in the province in the first 6 months of 2024 recorded positive signals. This is one of the bright spots of the economic picture, creating confidence and motivation for all levels, functional sectors and enterprises to strive to achieve the growth target set for the year, contributing positively to the overall socio-economic development of the province.
Accordingly, in the first 6 months of the year, the province's export turnover is estimated at 969.607 million USD, up 26.48% over the same period; import turnover is estimated at 685.517 million USD, up 17.93% over the same period. Of which, the export turnover of the electronics group reached 443.457 million USD, accounting for 45.74%; the textile and garment group reached 317.195 million USD, accounting for 32.71%; the metal group reached 23.930 million USD, accounting for 2.47%; the agricultural group reached 7.878 million USD, accounting for 0.81%; the other goods group reached 177.147 million USD, accounting for 18.27% of the province's total export turnover. Machinery and raw materials for export production continued to increase, accounting for a large proportion of total import turnover, showing positive signs in industrial production.
Currently, there are 66 enterprises operating in import and export in the province. The structure of export goods is divided into 5 groups: Electronic components (17 enterprises), textiles (21 enterprises), metals (2 enterprises), agricultural products (9 enterprises) and other goods (17 enterprises). In addition to traditional products such as electronic components and textiles, Hoa Binh province's enterprises have successfully expanded the export of typical agricultural products, the province's strengths to demanding markets such as: sugarcane and Dien grapefruit, red grapefruit to the United States, the United Kingdom, the EU; Bat Bao Minh Trung lotus porridge to Japan, the Czech Republic; Son Thuy longan to the EU; bamboo shoots to Taiwan (China); Cao Phong oranges to the United Kingdom... thereby opening up many new opportunities for the province's agricultural products.
To achieve the above results, it affirms the great determination of the province and export enterprises to actively improve designs, increase product quality, take advantage of opportunities brought about by integration, especially new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs) to promote exports, proactively turning challenges into opportunities in export activities. In the first 6 months of 2024, the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee and the business community of the province actively participated in international trade promotion activities, established business relationships with foreign partners, expanded export markets with many activities such as: participating in the Program to Promote Vietnamese Localities in the United States and Canada organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; organizing a working delegation to participate in the Program to Promote Vietnamese Localities in the Netherlands and Germany; participating in the trade and investment promotion delegation to the United States organized by the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Trade Office and the Embassy of Vietnam in the United States... The province continues to simplify administrative procedures, reduce time and costs for businesses in the export process; improve the business environment, create favorable conditions for businesses to access international markets; invest in transport and logistics infrastructure, improve the ability to transport goods...
To maintain and develop this growth momentum in the last months of 2024, the Industry and Trade sector is the focal point advising the province on import and export activities, continuing to focus on grasping the situation of import and export activities to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles for enterprises in the production and business process; support enterprises to expand and diversify import and export markets; strengthen international integration solutions, support enterprises to take advantage of commitments in FTAs, especially the CPTPP, EVFTA, UKVFTA to boost exports; deploy the development and launch of the Handbook on rules of origin in the Vietnam - European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) applicable to export goods of Hoa Binh province. Timely disseminate current issues, new issues such as the free trade agreement that Vietnam has participated in, the implementation of free trade agreements in the province, new rules and regulations when the free trade agreement comes into effect... in many forms, suitable to the actual situation.
The positive signals from the export activities in the province in recent times have contributed to creating motivation for enterprises and production facilities to overcome difficulties and continue to promote exports. However, in the face of increasingly strict market demands, along with the support of functional sectors, producers and enterprises themselves need to change their production mindset, improve product quality in the direction of safety, ensure traceability, build brands... so that export activities in the province are truly sustainable.
