Officers and soldiers of Tran island help teachers connect to the internet for online opening ceremony.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Tran Island Inter-level School has 8 students, including 7 primary school students and 1 preschooler. To prepare for the new school year, 3 teachers in charge braved the waves to the island many days in advance, bringing with them books, school supplies, and excitement for the opening day.
This school year, Ms. Pham Thi Hoa and Ms. Le Thi Mai Linh – two volunteer teachers who went to Tran Island brought their sons, one in grade 3 and the other in grade 5, to study with the students on the island. This not only helps the students make more friends, but also shows the teachers’ commitment and willingness to sacrifice for the cause of spreading knowledge at the forefront.

"I send my child to the island to study so that he can be close to his mother, conveniently tutor him in his studies, and at the same time help him experience life on the island, help him practice independence, know how to share difficulties and love the frontier land of the Fatherland more" - Ms. Linh, a teacher of combined classes, grades 4 and 5 said.
When she arrived at Tran Island to take up her assignment, teacher Pham Thi Hoa (a teacher of combined classes, grades 1 and 3) was very moved to receive help and clearly feel the solidarity and closeness between the army and people on the island. Ms. Hoa shared: “We have received the attention and enthusiastic help of the people, the village chief and the armed forces. From support in transporting supplies, arranging accommodation, to joining hands to clean up the school. All of them made us feel close and secure in teaching."
Ms. Pham Thi Hoa meticulously decorated the board, ready to welcome the new school year.
Meanwhile, Ms. Le Thi Loan, a kindergarten teacher who has been with the school since the previous school year, continues to volunteer to stay on Tran Island for another school year.
Ms. Loan shared: “The class has only one teacher and one student, the conditions are poor, the wind and waves make it difficult to travel, but seeing the students studying hard, looking forward to going to class every day, I feel all the hardship is worth it.”
The solidarity of Ms. Loan and her colleagues not only brings knowledge, but also adds confidence and the will to overcome difficulties to teachers and students on the outpost island. The upcoming drumbeat for the opening of the school year will be a testament to the love for the profession and the love for the sea and islands of those who spread knowledge in the middle of the ocean. The school on Tran Island is not large, with only a few classrooms and a small number of students, but each student here carries the expectations of their families and the faith of the island.

“This school year, my daughter Vu Thi Anh Ngoc entered first grade right on the island. The family is very excited because the school is complete, clean, and has the care of teachers and soldiers. The people of Tran Island put all their trust in the teachers. They bring letters to the island, bringing both love and responsibility. We hope that our children will study well, be obedient, and grow up to build and protect our homeland's sea and islands.” Ms. Hoang Thi Quang, a resident of Tran Island, shared.
