According to GameRant , new details about the newly released Nintendo Switch 2 console have a notable point: the installation capacity of the first games developed for this console is much lower than current standards.

According to information from My Nintendo Japan, Mario Kart World - the game considered the mainstay when Switch 2 launched - has a capacity of 23.4 GB. Meanwhile, other games such as Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby and the Forgotten Land or the GameCube Classics collection only fluctuate between 3.5 GB and 10 GB. Specifically, Donkey Kong Bananza requires 10 GB of memory, Kirby and the Forgotten Land takes up 5.7 GB and the GameCube Classics Collection of three games only takes up 3.5 GB. This collection will be updated in the future, meaning the capacity will increase over time.
With the Switch 2's hard drive being larger than its predecessor, the size of the aforementioned games is quite small. For example, Mario Kart World's 23.4 GB capacity is only equivalent to about 10% of the device's total internal memory, allowing players to install multiple games without worrying about having to delete data frequently.
Although there is currently no official information about the capacity of upgraded versions such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond or two games in the Legend of Zelda series, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on Switch 2, experts say Nintendo is trying to optimize the game capacity to suit the user experience.
Nintendo’s data-minimization strategy is a sensible approach these days, as major titles continue to expand and require large updates. The company also confirmed the integration of Nvidia’s DLSS technology on the Switch 2, which allows for the use of image enhancement techniques by reconstructing from low-resolution resources, thereby reducing the memory load while maintaining high display quality.
