Mr. Huynh Van Ban (2nd from right) on the day of groundbreaking the repair of the "Great Unity House"

As one of the two poor households in Phuong Duc ward, Ms. Ho Thi Suong in residential group 8 has a rather difficult situation. Her husband passed away when her two children were still young, and she struggled to raise her children to study alone. Without a stable job, she had to work hard to make a living by selling banh loc. Through a survey of the family's actual conditions, for many years, the government, the Fatherland Front and organizations have supported Ms. Suong to build a house, supporting 500,000 VND per month, health insurance card, electricity bill and gifts on holidays... With her own efforts and support from the government, her first child has now entered university, life is more stable, so by the beginning of November 2024, her family was out of the list of poor households.

In recent years, Duc Ward has implemented the goal of multidimensional poverty reduction; limiting re-poverty and new poverty; supporting the poor to overcome the minimum living standard, fully access basic social services and improve the quality of life. In particular, focusing on vocational training associated with sustainable employment, mobilizing social resources to support the poor, prioritizing investment in improving essential infrastructure. During the year, the ward has supported the construction and replication of poverty reduction models and projects, such as: Supporting the construction and repair of new houses for poor and near-poor households; supporting the development of production, business, services, tourism ... to create livelihoods, jobs, sustainable income for poor households, near-poor households and newly escaped poverty households. At the same time, creating all conditions to support agricultural and fishery extension, developing local occupations, such as: growing lotus on ponds and lakes, making rattan and bamboo weaving, producing ginger jam and other traditional handicrafts; Coordinate with the Social Policy Bank to create favorable conditions to support poor and near-poor households to borrow preferential credit sources, job creation capital, etc., contributing to improving living standards and helping people escape poverty sustainably.

Mr. Huynh Ngoc Dung, Chairman of Phuong Duc Ward People's Committee, emphasized that the important task in poverty reduction is to promote propaganda and mobilization to implement poverty reduction tasks, including disseminating multidimensional poverty approaches and the GNBV target with appropriate methods and approaches to create consensus and join hands for the poor of the entire political system and the people. After eliminating all poor households, the ward currently has only 18 near-poor households. In order to minimize the situation of re-poverty and at the same time remove the remaining households from the list of near-poor households, in the coming time, Phuong Duc Ward will continue to implement many solutions to care for near-poor households and newly escaped poverty households, focusing on mobilizing resources, mobilizing benefactors to support housing repair costs, giving health insurance cards as well as giving gifts... to improve the quality of life, towards the GNBV target in the area.
