Ha The capital is immersed in dense fog, air quality is at a very bad level. In the first days of February 2024, especially in the early morning of February 2, in Hanoi, people participating in traffic on some routes of the capital had to turn on their motorbikes and cars' lights due to dense fog that limited visibility. On many central streets of Tay Ho district, Ba Dinh district, especially the upper floors of buildings such as Lotte Mall Tay Ho, Kang Nam, Lotte Lieu Giai, ... are immersed in a thick layer of fog. According to environmental experts, Hanoi and the northern provinces are in winter, the amount of heat the ground receives from the sun is very little. At night and early morning, the ground cools quickly, causing a temperature inversion phenomenon, the air layer below the ground is colder than the air above. This is a stable stratification phenomenon, making it impossible for heavier air to move upwards. This is one of more than 20 types of natural disasters commonly encountered in Vietnam. This type of weather greatly affects the movement of vehicles. Traffic and air quality are at very bad levels, harmful to human health because the fog phenomenon can retain smoke, dust, and toxic substances in the air. The Department of Health Environment Management (Ministry of Health) has sent a document to the Department of Health of provinces and centrally run cities recommending measures for the community to protect health from the effects of air pollution. Specifically, for normal people, avoid outdoor activities for long periods of time or participate in physical activities that require strenuous effort; encourage indoor activities. Avoid activities in areas with high risk of air pollution; if you have to work in areas with high risk of pollution, you should use masks that can prevent fine dust; if you have to participate in traffic, you should increase the use of public transport, limit the use of motorbikes and bicycles to reduce exposure to polluted air. Limit opening windows and doors during times of heavy air pollution. Clean your nose and gargle with saline solution morning and evening. physiology, especially after going out; wash your eyes with saline solution in the evening before going to bed. Sensitive people need to monitor their health, if acute symptoms such as difficulty breathing, cough, fever appear, they need to go to medical facilities immediately for examination, consultation and treatment.
