According to the leader of Ninh Binh Province's Department of Tourism, the management board of the tourist area mobilized 3 motorboats to rescue about 90 passengers. However, because the distance from the stuck boat to the dock is about 3km, it had to be traveled many times. The rescue team also prioritized bringing elderly tourists, children and international visitors inside first, so some passengers rescued later were upset. This is the first incident to occur at Tam Coc Tourist Area due to unexpected weather effects.
Previously, on some websites, there was information that a group of tourists were stranded due to heavy rain and strong winds while visiting Tam Coc Tourist Area. The leaders of Ninh Binh Province's Department of Tourism confirmed that the information about tourists being stranded while visiting Tam Coc Tourist Area by boat on the afternoon of July 19 was incorrect. That same afternoon, all the tourists returned to the dock and went ashore safely.
As of the morning of July 20, tourist activities were still taking place normally. To proactively respond to storm No. 3 (Wipha), the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism also issued a document requesting tourist areas and spots to proactively deploy storm and flood prevention plans in a timely and effective manner, prioritizing the safety of tourists and absolutely not being subjective. In case of bad weather, immediately stop sightseeing activities and promptly notify tourists, travel agencies and authorities.
Units deploy rescue forces and equipment at key locations; publicize hotline numbers; install adequate signs and warnings of danger; organize training in first aid and emergency handling skills for staff; and closely coordinate with authorities in all situations.
Hotels, tourist restaurants, and other service establishments proactively monitor weather conditions, develop and deploy appropriate storm prevention plans.
Facilities must check and reinforce infrastructure, ensure safety for visitors and staff; prepare necessities, and arrange staff to be on duty 24/7 during the storm. At the same time, it is necessary to promptly inform visitors about weather conditions, provide instructions on safety measures, publicize contact phone numbers, and closely coordinate with local authorities to handle incidents when necessary.
