Dong Thap: Launching a high point of joining hands to build new rural areas and Green Sunday

(ABO) Responding to the 2025 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, on July 20, 102 communes and wards in Dong Thap province simultaneously launched the Peak Day of joining hands to build new rural areas and the 4th Green Sunday with many practical and meaningful activities, attracting a large number of union members and youth to participate.

On the peak day, the whole province implemented more than 282 youth projects and tasks, attracting 6,340 union members, youths, and volunteer students to participate. As a result, nearly 82,640 trees were planted, 110 tree nurseries were developed; 78 models for preventing and combating plastic waste were implemented, 46 models for classifying waste at source were implemented; 36 km of rural roads were repaired and 7 km of rural roads were renovated; 9.4 km of "Lighting up the Countryside" projects were implemented; 6 Charity houses and Red Scarf houses were started and inaugurated... The total value of benefits from the activities was more than 2.8 billion VND.

In particular, the activities of the Volunteer Teams supporting the operation of the two-level government and online public services at the grassroots level. Mobile Volunteer Teams go to hamlets far from the center to support people in completing administrative procedures. Notably, the model "Trusted Youth Address" of Thuong Phuoc Commune Union supports the elderly in border areas in completing procedures for receiving pensions, the model "Green Welfare" of Lap Vo Commune Union directly goes to the homes of the elderly and single people to guide them in completing procedures for receiving social pensions.

In addition, local youth union members have actively coordinated to support the construction of rural traffic bridges, repair and renew roads, contributing to improving the travel infrastructure for people. Organize environmental sanitation campaigns, clean rivers, clean memorial steles, martyr cemeteries, clear bushes, remove "black spots" of waste, collect waste on roads, residential areas, and market areas; organize training on drowning prevention, dengue fever prevention; visit and give gifts to families with meritorious services, etc.
