The opening ceremony was attended by leaders of central ministries and branches; representatives of many provinces and cities; a delegation from Yunnan province (China) and a large number of people and tourists.

This is the opening event for the new phase of the Red River Festival Project 2025-2035 and takes place in the context of Lao Cai province having just merged from Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces, marking an important turning point in regional development.

First time organizing "Red River Festival - Lao Cai 2025" - Where the Red River flows into Vietnam
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lao Cai province affirmed: "The event has special significance in the context of Lao Cai province being established on the basis of merging two provinces, opening a new development path on the journey of integration and aspirations to rise up".
According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, the Red River Festival is not only a cultural event but also a tool to promote cooperation, contributing to implementing the policy of developing cultural industry associated with tourism .

With the theme "Where the Red River flows into Vietnam", this year's festival takes place from November 19-24, including a series of cultural, tourism, trade and friendship exchange activities.
The festival space is expanded with programs displaying the Red River civilization, folk song and dance performances, reenactments of ethnic minority rituals, and an exhibition system on the culture and history of the upstream region.
Besides, there are large-scale economic and commercial activities such as the Vietnam - China International Trade Fair, the reenactment of the ancient Coc Leu market, cross-border trade and tourism promotion activities...

The highlights of the series of events are the “One track - Two countries” cycling race and the “Tea scent in the clouds” Shan Tuyet Tea Festival, honoring the specialties of the Lao Cai highlands.
On behalf of the Chinese side, Ms. La Binh, Deputy Secretary and Head of the People's Government of Hong Ha Prefecture (Yunnan Province) highly appreciated the coordinated efforts of Lao Cai Province in organizing the China-Vietnam Cooperation Week in the Red River Basin.

“2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations and the year of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. We are delighted to join Lao Cai province in launching the 2025 Red River Festival at this historic moment,” said Ms. La Binh.

After the opening ceremony, the Red River - Lao Cai Festival 2025 is expected to attract a large number of tourists during the week, contributing to promoting the image of Lao Cai as a friendly, dynamic and unique destination.
