Frost appears on tree branches and blades of grass at an altitude of about 2,600m in Ta Xua, Lao Cai.
On November 19, Mr. Phang Ga (33 years old, porter in Lao Cai ) led a group of 6 guests to Phu Sa Phin peak, also known as Ta Xua.
Surprised to witness the snow and ice phenomenon appearing earlier than every year, Mr. Phang Ga immediately introduced it to his fellow members and did not forget to take pictures.
He said: "In previous years, ice and snow usually appeared in December. However, this year, ice and snow appeared earlier, not even until the end of November. I myself am a local here so I have seen ice and snow many times; in the group there were people from the South coming to the North to climb the mountain so the guests were very excited."

Mr. Phang Ga also added that when he climbed to the top of Phu Sa Phin, the outside temperature was 0 degrees Celsius, very cold. Ice and snow were stuck on tree branches 1 meter high or more.
"In my experience climbing mountains, when the temperature drops and it rains, there will definitely be freezing in the morning. Today, the weather changed quite a lot, with rain, snow and sea of clouds. By the afternoon, the weather was sunny again. The temperature at the end of the evening was 6 degrees Celsius," he revealed.

Phu Sa Phin Peak in the old Yen Bai , now Lao Cai province, is known as a destination for those who are passionate about challenges and conquests. The original name of this peak helps visitors distinguish it from Ta Xua Peak in Son La province, which is for those who want to find a gentle trip and enjoy peace.
With an altitude of about 2,865m above sea level, Phu Sa Phin belongs to the end of the Hoang Lien Son range stretching from Lai Chau down to Lung Lo pass. This is the highest peak of the Ta Xua range, the natural boundary between Lao Cai and Son La provinces.
These days, the Northern region is cloudy, the temperature continues to drop due to the influence of the strongest cold air since the beginning of winter. It is cold, some places are very cold; especially in the mountainous and midland areas, the weather is very cold, high mountains have some places are very cold. The lowest temperature ranges from 12-15 degrees Celsius, in the high mountains of the Northeast, some places are cold below 5 degrees Celsius.
Similar to Ta Xua, locals recorded that Ngu Chi Son peak, over 2,800 m high, located on the border between Sa Pa commune (Lao Cai) and Binh Lu commune (Lai Chau) had frost from the morning of November 19 and continued until the afternoon of the same day when the temperature dropped. However, the density of frost was not as thick as in Phu Sa Phin.
