The "feelings" of the Taliban government in 2025

Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the force controlling Afghanistan expects to expand official and diplomatic relations with other countries in 2025.

According to Tolo News on January 1, Mr. Mujahid affirmed: "In 2025, based on our efforts, we hope many countries will join this path and establish diplomatic relations with Afghanistan."

Stating that this was expected and there were also signs of guidance, the spokesman said that over the past year the Taliban has taken steps towards recognition and engagement with many countries, leading to positive results.

Tolo News added that there are currently about 40 embassies and diplomatic missions of various countries operating in Afghanistan, and noted that the Taliban government has diplomatic missions in more than 20 countries.

Meanwhile, Ariana News quoted Mr. Mujahid as accusing that current policies against Afghanistan directly affect the lives of the people of this country, and at the same time asking countries to end these policies.

According to Taliban officials, Afghanistan is an important country for all countries and Kabul wants good relations with all.

The Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August 2021, overthrowing the US-backed government . Many countries and international organizations responded by cutting aid and ties with Kabul.

In early October 2024, Director of the Russian Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov announced that Moscow was completing the process of removing the Taliban from Russia's list of terrorist organizations.
