UNLEASH THE POWER OF THE PEOPLE

Many years ago, Phu Tam village, Phu Trung commune, Phu Rieng district, lacked a community center and had to temporarily borrow houses from villagers to hold meetings, collective activities, and New Year celebrations. However, this Lunar New Year, the village now has a 200m² community center, built on a plot of land larger than 2 sao (approximately 2,000 square meters) voluntarily donated by the villagers. This is one of the most spacious and well-equipped village community centers in the province.

Many multi-story houses with Thai-style roofs have sprung up in Phuoc Tin commune, Phuoc Long town, thanks to the increasingly developed local economy .

With the pioneering donation of over 2 sao (approximately 2,000 square meters) of land for a cultural center, the campaign to donate land, crops, and structures for the construction of rural roads in Phu Trung has become much easier. As evidence, the 12.5km inter-communal road connecting Phu Trung with Phuoc Tan commune in Phu Rieng district, which was previously just a narrow dirt path, has now been widened to 20m, with a 6m wide asphalt surface. The road expansion affected 175 households, but through persuasion and mobilization, it received the support of the people. The people donated nearly 11 hectares of land along with crops and structures worth approximately 1.5 billion VND. Mr. Dao Van Dung's family in Phu Tien village alone donated over 3 sao of land for the road expansion.

The Phu Tam village cultural center in Phu Trung commune, Phu Rieng district, covers an area of 200 square meters and was built on land donated by local residents.

When the government decided to upgrade and expand the road, especially since the new route was 8km shorter than the old one, the people unanimously agreed to donate land and cut down trees to clear the site for the contractor. As a result, thousands of people in and outside the district now travel on a spacious, clean, and beautiful road, creating momentum to promote local socio-economic development.

Striving to achieve the advanced New Rural Area status, Binh Tan commune received over 18 billion VND in investment from Phu Rieng district for the repair and upgrading of rural transportation routes. Specifically, in the model residential area of Phuoc Thinh village, 10 billion VND was invested to upgrade and expand three roads from 4m to 9m. The roads are now paved, spacious, and well-maintained. Village management boards and community organizations have mobilized residents to install streetlights and plant flowers along the roadside, achieving a 95% completion rate.

Rural roads in Binh Tan commune, Phu Rieng district, are equipped with streetlights and planted with flowers along both sides, creating a vibrant and attractive rural landscape.

During the period 2021-2025, Phu Rieng district invested in the construction of 10 concrete bridges and over 341km of various types of roads with a total cost of over 1,620 billion VND. 2,476 households donated land for site clearance at 17 transportation construction projects, involving 2,817 plots/179.35 hectares of land. Many roads were upgraded, expanded, and newly constructed, such as the Bu Nho - Phuoc Tan, Binh Son - Long Hung, and Phu Trung - Phuoc Tan routes.

Deputy Chairman of Phu Rieng District People's Committee, Le Van Chung, shared: "Most of the roads in the district were built and expanded thanks to land donated by the people. As a result, the transportation system has been developed and connected, linking villages to villages, communes to communes, and Phu Rieng with other districts and towns in the province. This ensures convenient travel for the people and creates favorable conditions for socio-economic development."

TRANSFORMING THE FACE OF RURAL AREAS

Phuoc Tin commune in Phuoc Long town is one of the first two communes in Binh Phuoc province selected for investment to achieve the model new rural area status in 2024. This provides the conditions and foundation for the Party Committee, government, and people of the entire commune to continue improving infrastructure and many other important indicators and criteria. From there, it contributes to improving the lives of the people and elevating the locality's status and appearance to a new level, especially in terms of economic thinking.

The establishment of the cooperative has brought many practical benefits to both its members and society. These include government investment in building a well-developed transportation system and extending electricity to the orchards, creating momentum and promoting production development. Besides sharing experiences in planting and caring for the trees, and finding markets for the products, the cooperative's greatest success lies in researching and developing effective pest and disease control methods, particularly in building a reputation for quality. In addition to the durian trees already planted and yielding harvests, the Bau Nghe Fruit Cooperative is currently planning to expand its scale.

To fulfill the criteria for the form of production organization and rural economic development in the construction of new rural areas, it can be affirmed that the Bau Nghe Fruit Cooperative in Phuoc Tin commune is effectively promoting innovative thinking. Established in October 2017 based on the shareholding of 11 members, with an area of 100 hectares of various fruit trees, mostly durian, after 7 years of establishment, the Bau Nghe Fruit Cooperative has attracted 47 members cultivating 244 hectares of various durian varieties. The cooperative's durian is grown and cared for according to VietGAP standards and has been granted planting area codes by the General Administration of Customs of China in 2022 for 200 hectares for 31 members and 44 hectares in 2023 for 16 members. After harvesting, the durian is carefully packaged and exported to the Chinese market. On average, each hectare of durian trees (from the 7th year onwards) yields 15-20 tons.

Durian from Bau Nghe Fruit Cooperative, Phuoc Tin commune, is being exported to the Chinese market.

With remarkable economic development and improved material and spiritual lives for its residents, many multi-story houses and Thai-style roofs have sprung up in residential areas of Phuoc Tin. Along with this, rural infrastructure such as electricity, roads, schools, health stations, and cultural facilities have been invested in and built comprehensively and modernly. Notably, Phuoc Tin currently has no poor households, and the average annual income in 2024 reached 98 million VND per person. This is an important foundation and prerequisite for Phuoc Tin to achieve the goal of becoming a model new rural area in 2024.

The New Rural Development program is bringing new vitality to Binh Phuoc province. Another spring has arrived, its radiant colors spreading to every road, every house, every street corner... Celebrating the new spring, the Party Committee, government, and people of Binh Phuoc are determined to build a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland, joining the rest of the country in entering a new era of national progress.
