New Rural Area - Journey to create "Smart Village", "Happy Village"

DTO - On June 29, 2025, Dong Thap province (old) proudly announced the completion of the task of building new rural areas (NTM). This is not only an important milestone but also a solid foundation for Dong Thap (new) to continue to make breakthroughs in the process of building NTM in the future.

The journey never stops

Speaking at the event announcing Dong Thap province’s completion of the task of building a new rural area, Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong affirmed a profound guiding viewpoint: “The new rural area has no end point”. The journey of building a new rural area is a continuous, unceasing process that always needs to be innovated and improved to meet the increasingly high demands of development.

With that spirit, Dong Thap is setting great expectations to create a truly solid new rural area in the future. This orientation does not stop at achieving the set criteria, but must also go into improving the quality of life of the people, improving production capacity, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, while ensuring a green, clean and beautiful living environment.

Spacious and clean roads are one of the outstanding achievements of the New Rural Development Program, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people.

“The Party Committee, government and people of Dong Thap will continue to deeply realize that building a new rural area has no end point. It is not just about infrastructure, but also about the living environment, people, a modern agricultural ecosystem and a sustainable community development. The province will focus on developing the commune level - the place closest to the people, closest to reality, with the motto "People supervise - transparent government - community action" - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Quoc Phong affirmed.

The completion of the task of building a new rural area in Dong Thap is a testament to the tireless efforts of the entire political system and the people of Dong Thap. It is the result of unanimity, joint efforts, promoting internal strength and mobilizing all social resources. Emphasizing this, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan suggested a strategic vision for Dong Thap: Building a new rural area is building a "Smart Village" and a "Happy Village". This is an important orientation, requiring a change in thinking and a more comprehensive approach.

To realize this vision, Dong Thap needs to focus on a number of key areas such as: integrating the New Rural Program and sustainable poverty reduction is an effective solution to optimize resources; diversifying livelihoods to increase income and improve the lives of rural people. In particular, developing OCOP products is a strategic direction, not only helping to increase the value of agricultural products but also promoting the local image, creating many job opportunities and increasing income for people.

Synchronizing mechanization in agricultural production helps farmers reduce labor, increase productivity and economic efficiency.

In the digital age, bringing science, technology and knowledge to the village is the key to improving the productivity, quality and competitiveness of Dong Thap’s agricultural products and agriculture. At the same time, disseminating new knowledge and skills to rural people will help them access modern production methods, adapt to climate change and participate in the global value chain. This is an important factor in building a smart and sustainable agriculture.
