This is also the first time two great singers from two regions of the country have performed a duet together. “We are close friends, both awarded the title of People's Artist in 2019, but it was not until today that we had the opportunity to stand on the same stage and sing together in such a special performance,” People's Artist Quoc Hung shared.
Combining the two voices of the South and the North, the performance created a strong resonance, not only in terms of music but also about the message of national unity and harmony.
The performance took the audience through many emotions, from the heroic spirit of the war to protect the homeland to the joy of reunification. The duet ended, expressing gratitude to the heroes who sacrificed for the peace of the Fatherland.
Recalling the proud moment when he raised his voice, People's Artist Quoc Hung expressed: "It was an extremely special feeling, in a very special space and time, when he sang the opening song of the program, in front of tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians. For me, the music at that moment was no longer an individual song, but the common voice of millions of Vietnamese people in the sacred moment of celebrating the day of national reunification."
For People's Artist Quoc Hung, singing at important national events is always a sacred responsibility, but the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day has a special and profound meaning. Behind the heroic melodies, the artist also sends a part of his personal memory - about his father who was a revolutionary soldier at the Khe Sanh front, Quang Tri , when he returned home with many wounds and passed away when he was only 13 years old.
“I choose to sing revolutionary songs as a way to express my love for my parents - those who have silently sacrificed so that our generation can live in peace today,” the artist said.
Along with the special performance on the 30-4 Grand Festival, on this occasion, People's Artist Quoc Hung - one of the leading voices of revolutionary music had a series of exciting and emotional performances. From April 25, People's Artist Quoc Hung took on the role of General Director of the art program "Song of Triumph" at the Hanoi Opera House; on the evening of April 27, the artist continued to participate in the program "Memories of Truong Son", telling stories from the Truong Son forest through songs that have accompanied the years.
On the evening of April 29, People's Artist Quoc Hung participated in the special art program "Spring of Reunification", taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.
Right after the April 30th morning celebration in Ho Chi Minh City, People's Artist Quoc Hung continued his journey to Da Lat to participate in the art program "Unified Country" organized by the People's Committee of Lam Dong province.
For artists, being able to contribute their voices to important art events is not only an honor, but also a proud dedication to the profession.
