In the midst of a fierce battlefield, female guerrilla Liu Nguyet Hong disregarded danger to complete her mission. She and her teammates took many wounded and fallen soldiers out of the battlefield, promptly treated and buried them.

The job was always fraught with danger, but with her intelligence and courage, she always found a way to complete the task. Many times, Ms. Hong disguised herself as a merchant, taking wounded soldiers through enemy posts to the base for timely treatment.

Ms. Hong and the armed forces fought more than 100 battles, captured many guns, and broke the will of hundreds of enemies. The name Luu Nguyet Hong at that time terrified the enemy. Wherever they heard of a woman named Hong, they would arrest and brutally beat her with the motto "if you miss a hundred times, you will catch her right". The enemy even offered a reward of 200 million VND from the old government and a 12mm mortar to anyone who captured her.

After three years of fighting, when she was just 18 years old, Ms. Hong had the honor of joining the Party. During the general uprising in the spring of 1968, she and her comrades surrounded and forced the retreat of Nga Nam sub-region for 52 days and nights. She was the one who lowered the enemy's three-striped flag in Nga Nam sub-region and raised the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, amid the cheers of the people and comrades.

In 1975, she joined the local "regional relocation" command board until the day the South was completely liberated. After the country was liberated, she continued to work in the locality until her retirement.

For her contributions to the revolution, in 2005, Ms. Luu Nguyet Hong was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forcesby the President .
