Among hundreds of candidates present at the exam site of Dich Vong Hau Secondary School (Cau Giay, Hanoi ), Nguyen Bao Han, a student at Vietnam - Algeria Secondary School, is a special case in this year's exam.
Two weeks ago, Bao Han unfortunately had an accident while riding a motorbike with her mother. "That day, my mother and I stopped at a red light when suddenly a motorbike came from behind and hit us. I fell on the road, then was taken to the doctor and the doctor concluded that I had a broken fibula, had to wear a cast and use crutches to move," the female student recounted.
Nguyen Bao Han had to use crutches to take the exam, receiving support from volunteers.
The unexpected accident forced Bao Han to miss the entrance exam to the specialized high schools under the Hanoi National University. The female student was also unable to attend the year-end ceremony to say goodbye to her friends and teachers after a memorable time in middle school.
In the following days, Bao Han fell into a state of confusion and anxiety, not knowing whether she was healthy enough to take the entrance exam to the 10th grade of public schools. Because every time she sat studying for too long, the wound on her leg ached, making studying extremely difficult.
Bao Han was assisted by volunteers into the exam room.
Fortunately, during that difficult period, the care and encouragement from relatives, teachers and friends, along with those loving messages, helped her to regain her spirit. "People told me that if one door closes, another door will open," Bao Han emotionally recalled.
On the first day of the exam, Bao Han received enthusiastic support from teachers and volunteers at the exam site, which became a great source of motivation to help the female student maintain her spirit and complete the exam as well as possible.
The female student registered her first choice at Nhan Chinh High School and her second choice was the Literature class at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. However, after finishing the Literature exam, she could not hide her emotions and burst into tears as soon as she left the exam room. The result was not as expected, making Bao Han regretful.
The female student burst into tears because she did not do as well on the Literature exam as expected.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trung - Bao Han's father shared that the accident happened right before the exam, making the whole family worried. His daughter is a sensitive person, easily hurt, so she needs more attention and encouragement.
Before entering the exam room, he tried to calm his daughter down with gentle words, hoping that she would stay calm and believe that as long as she tried her best, the result would be worth it. For him, what had happened could not be changed, the important thing was that his daughter did not give up.
Bao Han was taken to the exam site by her family.
This morning, more than 103,000 candidates completed the Literature exam. The exam was assessed by candidates as being within their ability, closely following the structure and format of the sample exam previously announced by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
This afternoon, students will take a 60-minute Foreign Language test (mainly English). On the morning of June 8, students will take a 120-minute Math test. Candidates taking specialized school exams will take an additional specialized subject test on June 9.
The admission score for non-specialized schools is the sum of three subjects, without any coefficient. This is a new score compared to previous years. For specialized schools, the admission score is the sum of four subjects, for specialized subjects, the coefficient is two, similar to previous years.
It is expected that around July 4-6, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will simultaneously announce the exam scores and grade 10 benchmark scores. Successful candidates will confirm their enrollment from July 10-12.
