Kha Doanh is an excellent student at Binh Long High School. She has just passed the Textile Technology major at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education. Her joy was not yet complete because of her difficult circumstances and the worries ahead.
Mr. Le Hai Dang, Vice President of Dong Nai Province's Association for Promotion of Education, awarded a scholarship worth 30 million VND from the Fund for Promotion of Education and Talent to Le Kha Doanh. |
Doanh's parents divorced when she was just learning to walk. 10 years ago, her father passed away from a stroke, her mother had her own family, and the two sisters moved in with their grandmother, Tran Thi Hoa (66 years old). She also had to take care of her brother who had a stroke, and their circumstances were very difficult. To make ends meet, despite her old age, poor health, and blurred vision, Mrs. Hoa still had to work as an hourly housekeeper with an unstable income.
Immediately after the survey, the Wings of Dreams program quickly connected with the Dong Nai Province Scholarship Fund, Binh Long High School, organizations, individuals, volunteer groups, and philanthropists to award scholarships to poor female students.
Mr. Le Hai Dang, Vice President of Dong Nai Province's Association for the Promotion of Education, shared: We came here not only to bring scholarships, but also to give faith to Doanh and all other disadvantaged students in the province, with the message "As long as you have good dreams and ambitions, you will never be alone on your journey to find knowledge".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien, President of the Provincial Association for the Support of the Disabled, Orphans and Poor Patients, awarded a scholarship worth 5 million VND to Le Kha Doanh. |
At the program, Doanh received a scholarship worth more than 110 million VND, the money was deposited in a savings account for her to spend throughout her university studies. The joy was doubled when an anonymous benefactor, through the Huong Tu Tam club, agreed to support Doanh with all of her first year of university tuition (about 40 million VND) and another benefactor agreed to support her family with monthly rice.
The success of the 120th scholarship award ceremony is also the beginning of the 11th year of the Dream Wings journey. With the message “Our love fuels your dreams”, each journey will be a magical story of compassion and humanity, not leaving poor students behind on the way to school.
Some touching images of philanthropists and volunteer groups sharing love and helping Le Kha Doanh fulfill her dreams.
