Earn tens of millions of dong by selling sticky rice
Having just finished her high school graduation exam, Catherine Nguyen Dang (Vietnamese-American, born in 2006), a former student of a high school in Ho Chi Minh City, is focusing on managing the sticky rice brand she founded. She has determined that this seventh lunar month will be the "business season" with special sticky rice products. Customers who buy sticky rice at Catherine's shop love the meticulousness and unique decoration ideas for each product. Although each tray of sticky rice is not cheap, the high-end type costs 1.5-1.9 million VND/tray, the special type costs 4-7 million VND/tray, but sometimes Catherine's shop cannot keep up with the orders. There are days when customers order a lot, Catherine stays up until 4-5am to decorate. During the holidays, when the orders are too much, she will accept a limited number of orders to serve better. In addition to sticky rice, the shop also sells Japanese-style sweet soup.

This business was conceived by Catherine Nguyen Dang in 2021 and started in 2022. Catherine Nguyen Dang is American, of Vietnamese origin. The female student said that since she was a child, she has loved... delicious food and especially enjoyed cooking, combining Vietnamese dishes with world cuisine. Recognizing the needs of customers who like to order sticky rice and sweet soup dishes with special patterns, Catherine tried cooking them and then posted them online for sale. She learned how to use flour, white beans, sticky rice, natural colors from plants, leaves, and fruits to create shapes of dragons, phoenixes, carps, mountains, flowers, calligraphy, etc. From regular customers who were her mother's friends, Catherine expanded her business, created a fanpage, and posted promotional posts on social networking platforms. After a while, the sticky rice brand she founded became known to many people. Recalling the early days of starting a business, Catherine still couldn't get used to the sadness of having to throw away nearly 10kg of sticky rice and ingredients because they were spoiled. Every time she made a mistake, she recorded the details of the method and recipe to learn from experience. The Vietnamese girl said that she started doing business to challenge and train herself. Doing business helped Catherine understand more about reality, develop communication, research the market, and customer needs. To both study and do business, she had to arrange her work scientifically . Before graduating from high school, Catherine went to school from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day. After that, she spent about an hour playing sports such as archery, horse riding, golf, etc. Regarding business, she made weekly plans and implementation criteria for employees, then followed them online to save time. The average revenue of the sticky rice shop is about 60 million VND/month, and during months with holidays, festivals, full moons, and special anniversaries, sales will increase.Admitted to top US school
Not only is she talented in culinary and business, Catherine Nguyen Dang also has excellent academic achievements. Notably, she was admitted to the University of California, Los Angeles.
