In the first half of 2025, Kien Giang welcomed more than 7 million tourists

Kien Giang Provincial Department of Tourism has issued report No. 80/BC-SDL on tourism activities in the first 6 months of the year and key tasks for the last 6 months of 2025.

Accordingly, the total number of visitors to Kien Giang in the first 6 months of 2025 is estimated to reach more than 7 million (up 30.6% over the same period, reaching 64.4% of the annual plan), of which international visitors are estimated to welcome nearly 900,000 (up 75.4% over the same period, reaching 74.3% of the annual plan). Total revenue is about VND 29,007 billion (up 116.5% over the same period, exceeding 1.8% of the annual plan).

Total number of visitors to Kien Giang in the first 6 months of 2025 is estimated to reach more than 7 million visitors.

Of which, Phu Quoc city is estimated to welcome nearly 4.5 million visitors (up 33.3% over the same period, reaching 61.1% of the yearly plan), international visitors are estimated to welcome nearly 900 thousand visitors (up 76.7% over the same period, reaching 75% of the yearly plan), total revenue reaches about 21,588 billion VND (up 92.6% over the same period, reaching 91.9% of the yearly plan).

In the first half of 2025, promotion, information and digital transformation activities in the tourism sector were also promoted. Specifically, digital transformation and administrative procedures were well implemented according to regulations, administrative procedures in the tourism sector were made public and implemented through the Kien Giang Provincial Public Service Portal. The total number of records received in the first 6 months of 2025 was 103 records.

The provincial Department of Tourism also coordinated to organize a survey to build a tourism product about the origin with the theme "Proud of the imprints of the border region". Submit to the Provincial People's Committee to issue: Report on the results of implementing domestic tourism stimulus activities in 2024; Plan to implement the Program of tourism development cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in 2025; Plan to effectively implement the contents of the two-year cooperation agreement 2024 - 2025 with the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Hall, Kingdom of Cambodia; Official dispatch establishing cooperative relations with the city of Itaperuna, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil...

Regarding tourism product development, the Department has developed a plan to investigate tourism resources in Kien Giang province; a plan to implement the economic growth target in 2025; reporting to the Provincial People's Committee the results of the survey of agricultural and rural tourism businesses and tourism service businesses that meet the standards for serving tourists; requesting localities to review the criteria and conditions for recognizing tourist areas and spots in the province. Report on the plan to use undisbursed public capital in 2024, transferred to 2025 to implement the National Target Program on New Rural Development; Official dispatch on implementing the Program "One Commune One Product in 2025"; Report on the comprehensive management of resources, protection of the marine and island environment in the province; Report on the implementation of marine economic development in Kien Giang province; Review, propose additions and adjustments to issues related to the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction for administrative units implementing the arrangement, reorganization and construction of a 2-level local government organization model.

In the last 6 months of 2025, in addition to focusing on implementing tourism development tasks in the direction and goals identified in the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress and the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021 - 2025) of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Tourism will continue to coordinate with sectors and localities to strengthen state management of tourism associated with promoting comprehensive tourism development in Kien Giang province in terms of scope, scale, service quality and ensuring sustainability, aiming to soon become a spearhead, professional economic sector with a synchronous and modern infrastructure system and technical facilities; Promote tourism promotion activities, improve the quality of human resources and local community awareness of sustainable tourism development; Build diverse, unique, branded and competitive tourism products imbued with national cultural identity; Strengthening tourism development associated with environmental friendliness, ensuring national defense and security, making increasingly important contributions to the socio-economic development of the province and tourism nationwide.

Striving for the whole year of 2025, Kien Giang tourism industry welcomes 12,680,092 tourist arrivals, an increase of 28.6% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 14.8%; of which, international visitors reach 1,639,395 arrivals, an increase of 67.5% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 36.6%; Total revenue reaches 52,184 billion VND, an increase of 107.6% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 83.1%.
