Due to the impact of storm No. 11, the whole province has more than 3,000 households affected. Among them, communes with large areas of flooding are: Yen Binh, Van Nham, Huu Lung, Tuan Son, Cai Kinh, That Khe, Trang Dinh... The time when the water recedes is also the time when people have to face environmental pollution due to waste and decomposing animal carcasses, which pose many risks of disease outbreaks.
That Khe is one of the communes deeply flooded due to the impact of storm No. 10 (late September 2025) and storm No. 11 (October 6). Ms. Nong Thi To Uyen, village 2, That Khe commune said: The rising water caused the first floor of my family to be flooded up to nearly 2 meters, mud flooded the house and flooded the walkways. On the morning of October 8, when the water began to recede, my family and I cleaned up together, sprayed the floor and household items... Thanks to the support of the local government and the army, the house cleaning work has now been basically completed. My family and the villagers are cleaning the walkways and clearing the drainage system. After cleaning, my family will proactively spray disinfectant to ensure environmental hygiene.
As one of the units operating in collecting waste in That Khe and Trang Dinh communes, these days, Huy Hoang Trang Dinh Company Limited has mobilized human resources and machinery to collect and transport waste. Mr. Nguyen Van Khuynh, Deputy Director of the company, said: Immediately after the water receded, the company mobilized 100% of the unit's workers to divide into many shifts to coordinate with local authorities and people to clean up and collect waste... At the same time, the company rented 3 excavators and 4 trucks to transport waste to the treatment area according to regulations.
Along with the people, the authorities of the communes affected by the flood are also actively mobilizing human resources and supporting people to clean up the environment after the water recedes to soon stabilize their lives.
Ms. Tran Hoai Trang, Chairman of Yen Binh Commune People's Committee, said: As of the morning of October 9, some villages in the commune were still quite deeply flooded. The commune government is prioritizing the transportation of necessities to isolated households. With the motto "where the water recedes, there is sanitation", in areas where the water has receded, the commune government mobilized commune mass organizations to actively support people in cleaning up mud and garbage as soon as the water recedes. The commune has not yet implemented the socialization of household waste collection. In order for people to soon stabilize their lives after the storm and flood, the commune government hopes to receive support from units and businesses in collecting and transporting waste, limiting the risk of disease outbreaks.
According to information from the National Hydrometeorological Forecasting Agency, the storm and rain situation in 2025 will have many complicated developments. Mr. Trieu Duc Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: The Department has directed the specialized department to strengthen propaganda, instruct people to clean up waste and clean the environment immediately after the water recedes; conduct disinfection spraying of houses with disinfectant solution to prevent epidemics... The Department also requested that garbage collection units in the area be active and proactive in collecting, transporting and treating waste, especially in flooded areas.
With the efforts of local authorities and people, environmental sanitation in flooded areas has been basically ensured. As soon as the water receded, waste was collected by units and people cleaned up and transported to treatment sites according to regulations. Thereby, ensuring environmental sanitation so that people can quickly stabilize their lives and restore production.
