Cau River water gradually recedes, people prepare to clean their houses

After many days of heavy rain, on the afternoon of October 10, the water level of Cau River and Ca Lo River began to recede. People in Da Phuc and Trung Gia communes (formerly Soc Son district) are cleaning up their houses and stabilizing their lives.

On the afternoon of October 10, the Da Phuc Commune Civil Defense Command said that the water level measured at 3 p.m. the same day at Cau River was 9.95 m (alarm level III is + 8 m) and at Ca Lo River was 9.62 m (alarm level III is + 8 m). The Trung Gia Commune Civil Defense Command said that the Cau River water level at Luong Phuc station at 6 a.m. on October 10 was at 10.10 m, 2.1 m above alarm level III.

However, through monitoring, the leaders of the communes said that the water level of both rivers has stopped and is decreasing. According to the reflection of people in Trung Gia commune, since noon today, the water has stopped and gradually receded. At the Tan Hung dike area and National Highway 3, Pho Ni section, the water has receded dozens of centimeters, but private cars still cannot pass.

Currently, people in An Lac village - one of the most flooded areas in Trung Gia commune - are more assured and predict that around noon or afternoon on October 11, the water will completely recede from the foundation of their houses. People are also ready to move their houses as the water recedes, ensuring environmental hygiene and disease prevention.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 9, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai inspected the situation and directed flood prevention and control work, ensuring the safety of people in Da Phuc and Trung Gia communes. Accompanying her were Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen and leaders of the Capital Command, and a number of city departments and branches.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai directly inspected the field at a number of flooded spots and key dykes in Da Phuc commune; at the same time, she discussed with leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee of the city, departments, branches, military forces, police and Party committees and authorities of Da Phuc and Trung Gia communes to direct a number of key tasks to be implemented immediately.

The leaders of the City Party Committee and People's Committee requested to focus on directing, using all measures to mobilize forces to reinforce key dike points and protect people's safety. Da Phuc and Trung Gia communes must carry out their tasks with the highest sense of responsibility, closely coordinate with city agencies, proactively mobilize the entire political system from communes to villages together with the people to concentrate with the support of the army to reinforce key dike points, using all measures to protect the dike, not allowing dike breaks to occur.

The City Party Secretary requested that the police and military forces deploy enough forces to ensure security and order, support localities in protecting dikes, and promptly support people in all situations. Communes also need to prepare plans to support people in cleaning the environment and preventing and fighting epidemics after the water recedes.
