Nurturing healthy troops at Battalion 207

In November, when we visited Battalion 207, Regiment 893 (Provincial Military Command), we felt the enthusiastic training atmosphere of the soldiers on the training ground, in the growing area, with fresh green vegetables and gourd trellises full of fruit. The unit strives to compete to raise healthy soldiers and train good soldiers.

Proactive food on the spot

The production area of ​​Battalion 207 is planned into sub-areas: leafy vegetables, herbs, pig pens, cow pens, fish ponds... Each area is assigned to companies in charge, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere in production. From the beginning of 2025 until now, the unit has produced nearly 6 tons of meat, more than 7 tons of fish, 53 tons of vegetables, tubers, and fruits, contributing to an increase of 2,000 VND/person/day for soldiers' meals. Captain Au Ngoc Khoe - Political Commissar of Battalion 207 shared: "The battalion always identifies feeding healthy soldiers as the top priority. We promote diversified production, making the most of land funds to create a clean and stable source of food for soldiers."

In the vegetable garden, young soldiers Huynh Hoang Nhan and Danh Phuong Dat of Company 1, Battalion 207 enthusiastically watered vegetables and weeded. Another group harvested ginger, coriander and delicious squash. With a gentle smile, soldier Huynh Hoang Nhan shared: "Growing vegetables helps me practice discipline, appreciate labor and especially feel happy when I personally contribute to improving the unit's meals." The growing space under the squash trellis, next to the fish pond, was filled with laughter. Stories about soldier life and family life further bonded the soldiers' love.

Ensure food, accommodation and health conditions for soldiers

The movement "Feeding healthy soldiers" is clearly shown in the kitchen of Battalion 207. Utensils are neatly arranged; the preparation, processing and dining areas are separate, in accordance with food hygiene and safety regulations. Cooking dinner for the soldiers with the soldiers, professional soldier Major Hoang Nghia Trong - Cooking Squad Leader, Battalion 207 said that the source of green vegetables is almost 100% self-sufficient, meat and fish are regularly supplied, so the quality of the meal is significantly improved, and the cost is also much reduced. Mr. Trong added: "The kitchen strictly follows the process of receiving, preserving and processing food. The dishes are diverse, with soup, stew, stir-fry, and fruit desserts so that the soldiers can eat well and be full. We also cook herbal medicine and cooling drinks for the soldiers to quench their thirst in the hot season."

Not only taking good care of the living and eating conditions, Battalion 207 also takes care of the spiritual life of the soldiers. The campus has many trees and ornamental flowers; the reading room, volleyball court, and soccer field are maintained regularly, creating a healthy training and entertainment environment, thanks to which, the young soldiers quickly get acquainted with the military environment, from the daily and weekly regime to self-study hours, sports ... creating a comfortable and cohesive mentality in the unit.

Thanks to the initiative of the command and the solidarity of the entire unit, Battalion 207 always maintains a healthy soldier ratio of over 98%, successfully completing the targets of increasing production and ensuring the soldiers' lives. Captain Au Ngoc Khoe shared: "The Battalion is concerned with ensuring food, accommodation, health and improving the soldiers' spiritual life. When soldiers are assured and healthy, the quality of training, combat readiness and building a strong, disciplined unit are improved."

In the warm dining room, full meals help soldiers of Battalion 207 feel more confident. Soldier Danh Minh Trung - Company 2 confided: "The food is very delicious, I eat my fill and eat more than at home. Thanks to that, I have the energy to train and study. I feel healthy and warm in the military environment."
