Meanwhile, many schools organize free review sessions for students to prepare for the exam.

Increase free teaching for students to review for high school graduation exam

Sharing about the review for 12th grade students, Mr. Le Van Luc, principal of Viet Yen High School (Bac Giang), said that the school has divided students into groups according to their abilities to have a suitable review plan.

From May 26th to now (after completing the main curriculum), the school has increased free teaching for students with a duration of 4 periods/week to ensure a total review of knowledge content and focus on practicing questions in the final weeks.

"Students whose test results are not satisfactory will receive 1 extra class per week for free, based on the voluntary participation of parents and students. The school currently maintains 6 such classes including: 2 literature classes, 1 math class, 1 physics class, 1 English class, 1 biology class).

According to Mr. Ta Viet Hung - Director of the Departmentof Education and Training of Bac Giang, 12th grade students in the whole province are organized to take two mock exams with the common questions of the department. This is the basis for high schools and continuing education centers to group students according to their abilities to organize review classes with appropriate and flexible content. In particular, more attention is paid to the group of students at risk of failing to graduate.

In Yen Bai , according to the leaders of the Department of Education and Training, schools have been directed to apply many forms of support for students in their review.

According to teachers at Hoang Quoc Viet High School (Yen Bai City), this year, in addition to free teaching sessions at school, teachers have increased homework assignments for students via OLM software.

Some students with poor academic performance are given online tutoring by teachers. Since the school year, some teachers have divided students into study groups so that students with good academic performance can support and share review experiences with students who are weaker. This form of group study has been maintained until now.

In Son La, according to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, from April 2025 to now, high schools have organized nearly 40,000 free tutoring sessions for students. For groups of weak and poor students, teachers design short, easy-to-understand materials. Some schools conduct 1-teacher-1-student lessons to "support" students in the "high-risk of failure" group to achieve their graduation goals.

Students whose test results are not satisfactory will receive 1 extra lesson/week for free, based on the voluntary participation of parents and students.

Comply with Circular 29 on extra teaching and learning

According to the principals of high schools in Hanoi, 12th graders will still review until June 20. Unlike previous years, this year's final review period must comply with Circular 29 on extra teaching and learning. Schools must strictly follow the regulation of no more than 2 periods/week/subject, however, at this time, only a few subjects still maintain review classes according to students' needs.

Ms. Tran Thi Hai Yen, principal of Tran Phu High School (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi), said that the review class is not only for students who have not yet mastered the knowledge content. Students with good academic performance but want to review to get high test scores and be admitted to top universities are also given opportunities by the school to review. In addition to attending review classes, many students come to school to study on their own.

At Tran Phu High School, many students with good academic performance, in addition to attending classes, still want to register for additional review courses in the hope of achieving good scores in the exam, which will facilitate their admission to top universities. Dung, a student at Tran Phu High School, said he plans to apply for the A00 and A01 combination of electronics and telecommunications at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, so he is working hard to review for high exam results.

"I'm still worried about the new multiple choice test formats in this year's math, physics, and chemistry exams because I can't just randomly circle the answers.

At the moment, I only practice each type of test and find sample tests with a similar structure to the Ministry's reference test structure to practice. I review knowledge while maintaining a high level of concentration so as not to be overwhelmed during the test," Dung said.

Besides, Dung added that some other friends who want to pass the entrance exams to Foreign Trade University, National Economics University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi Medical University are also trying hard like him.

In addition to studying at school, Dung takes math lessons from a teacher outside. The rest of the time he studies by himself.

Literature pressure

Ha Anh, a student at Chu Van An High School (Tay Ho, Hanoi), said she chose math, literature, English and geography as her exam subjects.

Ha Anh said: "We feel the biggest pressure is on the literature subject. This year, the structure of the exam has changed and does not use materials from textbooks. Geography in previous years was easier because there were questions based on the exploitation of the Geography Atlas, but this year we are not allowed to bring the Atlas into the exam room anymore."

Ha Anh said that in the last days of the exam review period, she switched to studying by "formula". From the teachers' instructions, she synthesized them into short formulas to memorize. "There were days when I studied until 2am. But next week I will study less to rest and save my energy," Ha Anh said.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhiep, principal of Chu Van An High School for the Gifted (Hanoi), shared that although most students at the school have good academic ability and awareness, the school still has to remind teachers not to be subjective before this year's special exam.

"The school is maintaining 2 periods/subject/week for 12th grade students until June 21. In addition, teachers are still proactively guiding students to review in many different ways," said Ms. Nhiep.

Neither teachers nor students are subjective.

According to Mr. Doan Minh Chau - Principal of Xuan Phuong High School (Hanoi), with the new points of this year's exam, no teacher or student dares to be subjective. "Because we are only allowed to review for 2 periods/week/subject, teachers increase other forms of review guidance for students and maintain review until close to the exam date," said Mr. Chau.
